Is your gun not for protection? Im not saying you have to do what my mom does... She puts her gun on the side of her bed at night, when her husband (not my dad, but she did it back then as well) is at the camp or goes visit his daughter and gone at night, puts it under the pillow... But you can put it somewhere in your room so you are not hopping rooms to try to find it.
Also, keep something else in your closet. I have a machete and a bat. And did he break into the car or was the doors unlocked? I am going to assume it was unlocked because they looking to move quick. Who gives a frick if he got arrested. He got a $3500 bond. And being a 3 time felon, as long as he isn't in jail he will keep doing the same thing. Your goal should be to be as aggressive as possible and make sure he is going to think twice before trying to hit your house again and you can't do that if you have to scrabble around for your gun..

this is why our country is so fricked, no room for common sense in all this beaurocracy. he shouldve never been released as a 3 time felon, but as he was his sentence has been served and his debt to society repaid
