First mistake, naming him "Rivers". The beginnings of his hostility is likely based on his name.
Dad should have stepped up a long time ago and straightened this out.

This got me thinking, as I do not have kids, whats the proper course of action here? Just my thoughts: smash his guitar, and gaming system. smash his phone. Record every hostile interaction. Cut off all money for him. No more clothes, no spending money. you can eat whats in the house. you sleep on the floor until you can act right.

I don't have children so this is an honest question - how does a kid get to this point? Too many years of parents letting them do what they want?
Seems like the dad could have beat his arse (within reason) years ago and could have nipped this in the bud?
