This is a good recommendation. I'd pass on Denver and Boulder (and I've lived in Boulder) - too crowded and expensive and not all that close to the high mountains.
Colorado Springs maybe. But the Frisco area is in the heart of the ski area, has great mountain views, and easy interstate access to the Denver airport if you need to travel.

I lived in Denver a few years back and enjoyed it. However, I worked out west of the ski resorts, close to Rifle, CO. Everytime I would pass through Glenwood Springs, CO I loved the feel of that place and beautiful and scenic views. It is only a little time to the major ski resorts. If I was forced to move back West to CO, I would pick that place unless it has changed. Good luck on the retirement days!

Try Grand Junction or Durango. Pretty remote compared to the front range but beautiful scenery and not overcrowded.

A friend of mine who grew up in S MS relocated to Fort Collins for work. He says there's no humidity, no skeeters and no culture. Says he's never leaving.

Idaho and Montana are better....cheaper...free-er.

Better off in Utah, Wyoming, Montana, or Idaho.
Colorado is quickly becoming Washington State. Good state for the most part, but being ruined by one large population center. The entire state suffers even if you live 4-5 hours away from it.

Do not move to Colorado
If you do though, I would choose Denver over Col Springs

only went there for a visit
but if I wanted to move there...once I picked a spot
I'd do some research about the shops there, then I'd call, inquire about anything I was interested in, then I'd , ask if they lived there, how long etc...how did they find life in colorado to be for them etc
after about 3 or 4 places, I should have a pretty good idea...
good luck

Yep, central and northern Idaho, Colorado is too trendy.

North and West of Denver.

One state east into Nebraska. Colorado blows and Iowa sucks

Colorado is getting really crowded and expensive. I would not want to retire here, as prices are approaching west coast prices. fricking happy hour beers are now $5. And a fancy cocktail will run you $13-15. It sucks.
And housing.
But if you are going to move here, I would suggest fort collins or beuna vista. Both are much more reasonable price wise. And beautiful places to live.
Stay away from denver unless you need to live near a big city. its fricking crowded.

I don't enjoy Denver at all. Pretty much only time I'll go in is for the occasional Rockies game.

Boulder County.
It's on the Front Range so the weather is sunny and mild. You can be in Denver in 30/40 minutes.
You are closer to the mountains and it's beyond pretty.
You ahave fast access to 36 and 1-25 for business travel.
You are close to the city of Boulder that has great stuff to do.
Try Lafayette, Louisville,Superior, Erie, Longmont etc.
Thank me later.

Moved here 12 months ago this month and love it. Awesome city. Great weather. Skiing is literally 15 minutes from my place (Snowbird and Alta). The Burbs here are great. Clean. Culture is a smash of West Coast/Western so pretty low key. Infrastructure is pretty good.
In terms of the stuff people say - too many Mormons, no alcohol, etc. - none of that is true.
If Colorado, I'd go with Fort Collins or Longmont over Denver. Unless you're living IN the Rockies, skiing is pretty far away no matter where you are.
