Get a purebred from a breeder.

Why? If you really want a purebred there are plenty in shelters or at rescues. The dog in my profile pic came from animal control in Mcdunough Ga and was 12 bucks to adopt and came with a collar and leash. He has since passed and my current husky came from a rescue group in Cumming, Ga. He did have a $300 adoption fee though.

What if your next great job offer asks you to go to training out of town for a month?

Then I'll tell them find someone else like I did with my previous employer. I'm done traveling unless it's a permanent relocation.

Not sure if you are planning on keeping him inside but start with a kennel if so.

Keep him in the kennel when you aren't playing with him or feeding him.

When you take him out of the kennel take him straight outside and when he does his business outside really praise him. Lay it on thick.

He has lab in him and he will do his best to please you. It won't take him long to figure house training out.

If you also adopt one from a shelter, I’ll allow it.

my sister named her dog "stewmeat". The dog got out and she was calling the dog's name in the neighborhood. People thought she was touched..well they were right.
A friend of mine went through the same exact thing. His dog was a deep amber colored Irish Setter named Whiskey.
