If you went the extra mile at your job, maybe you could afford a BMW and wouldn't be placing your poor person values on people that can afford a better ride.

If you want to pick up chicks you should get a cherry red Camaro. I know someone who has had multiple guys stop him at a red light and tell him that they loved his hot rod
You are looking for a car to pick up chicks and guys tell you they like your car. Reasoning doesn't seem quite logical.

Had an '02 3 series (lost it in Katrina) and then an '05 5 series. The 3 series was the better car in my opinion.

Not saying its not a great car, but don't quote Car and Driver lists.
Car and driver is legit, best car mag out there. I think there reviews are dead on.
FYI, I think the 30k millionaire doesn't really hold true to the 3 series anymore, by the time you get one g'd up they are pushing 50k, i was walking around the lot the other day and didn't see any below 45k, the 30k millinaire are having to drive the 1 series or volkswagon cc's these days.

Some moron will be along shortly to tell you to buy a 7 or no BMW at all as if that makes some kind of sense.

I drive a Yukon (chick car). Every time I see a guy swing a 3 series into a tight parking spot, or dart through traffic I sigh that I drive something so un-fun.
If you're looking at the newer F30 3 series, drive the 328 too - the new engine is way better than the old one so you might not feel the need to pay the premium for the 335. The M Sport package should be mandatory. Also: CPO S4s are getting pretty affordable. If you're looking pre-owned, check out Car Max - they have one of the best aftermarket warranties in the business.

$400 rear tires would last me about a month. And the 10MPG would get old. But yeah, they are incredible.

Here's a little trick, BMW will not fix a run flat tire, so, every bmw has a stack of perfectly patchable runflats in the corner, until some kid starts selling them on ebay. So if you need some new rubber, and want to stick to the run flats, head to ebay, and you can probably some great tires there with plenty of tread left on them for much cheaper. I did this with 2 tires on my Z4, no problems at all.
This is a great idea. Mine are patched multiple times over, but tread is very low. Cost of new tires coupled with the decision of whether to get run flats (which suck for the ride) or get regulars and deal with the hassle of finding a spare and fitting in my trunk is making me really just want to dump it. But if I can get some cheap patched run flats, I'm down with that. thanks.

Listed at 13 city but your point is still valid.

Drove a friend's 2009 335xi coupe 6MT. Easily the fastest car I've ever driven but there's something about the flat torque curve and slight drop at the top end characteristic of a turbocharged engine that doesn't do it for me. F30s look amazing, though. Old guy in town has a new Estoril Blue 335i M-Sport. IMO it's the best color.
Personally, if I was going to get a small German sports sedan, I'd be going with a B7-chassis Audi S4. Test drove one of these with a friend and that V8 is like nothing I've ever heard or felt before or since. Immediate, throaty, nirvana at 6500 RPM. Little wonder they use it in the R8. I'd be looking for one of these on Carmax, along with a good warranty.

I'll be getting an e63s by this time next year. 0-60 in 3.5 is pretty strong.
