Besides the new World Trade Center it's garbage. Literally, it's filthy and disgusting. So overcrowded and no one speaks english. At times you forget you're even in America.

In the US, probably not. San Francisco and the bay area is great though. I'm spending 4 days in NYC this summer on the way back from Europe.

I enjoyed it when I went 4 years ago. Has it gotten worse? Did I miss something?

New York is awesome. No other city like it

I just love the energy and 24/7 vibe to it.

I don't get the hate. It was great the two times my wife and I went. Can't wait to go back. So much to do

Manhattan, where every tourist is going, is perfectly fine.

I guess if you go for the 1st time, you can be overwhelmed by it and think its amazing. But if you live close enough, you know otherwise. Maybe if you go to a baseball game, that would be ok.

In live in South Jersey, more near Philly, but I'm still less than 2 hours from NYC, not that I would drive up there.

Stayed with a friend last year at there place in the upper east side

Got up, ate a local bagel, walked down the street to the subway and went to work with him. It was awesome.

Energy everywhere. We went to the local market after work and cooked dinner and then to a local watering hole. Great vibe

Hate New York City
It's cold and it's damp
And all the people dressed like monkeys

Any city better for what? That's a pretty subjective question.

Are you looking to eat food that's arguably the best in the world and have no budget? Do you want to see live performances better than anywhere in the country? Do you enjoy a large city with lots of diversity?

Then yes, it is the best city in the country.

But that kind of stuff isn't for everyone. Some people prefer the views of the mountains, the outdoors, or more historic sites. To each their own, but New York is an amazing city.

Speaking of Philly...who makes the best Philly Cheesesteak in Philly. Tony Luke's has always looked fantastic on TV.
