Not joking around. Get to the ER ASAP. When those f’ers start getting bad you’re going to regret not going sooner. They’ll give you flowmax if they’re small enough to pass.

I’ve had 3. Each one started with this weird discomfort that I could not identify. I just felt weird. Then it was like someone got the radio dial and slowly turned up for volume to 11. That lasted about an hour all 3 times and I felt like I was dying. The first one (when I didn’t know it was a stone), I convinced myself that it was a AAA and I was dying.
All 3 times, by time I got to the hospital, I was fine and actually felt foolish being there. I remember sitting in the radiology suite and nurses apologizing to me because I had to sit and wait for people with half their face crushed in a car wreck to go first.
All 3 times cost me about 1000. So I’ve decided that I’m not running to the er again for the first or second pain wave. It’s going to hurt like a bitch anyways, but this time it won’t cost me 1000.

Go to your primary physician and tell him to give you a scrip for about 5 or 6 hydrocodone or Vicodin to keep on hand “just in case”. Mine never hesitates. And he usually gives me a scrip for 30. LOL

Oh, I’ve got 2 full bottles from the last er trip. Percocet and flowmax. Add some Busch Light and I’m going to have a hell of a time with the next one.

Read better... My stone had to be broken up and then I peed it out in about 8-9 pieces.
My Urologist told me that usually about 7mm is the max that can pass naturally.
Most bigger than that require breaking up by ultrasound (lithotripsy) or laser (Uretoscopy).

ETA: To the guy that had one 1/4 x 1/2, why on earth would you not go to a doctor to break that bastard up into smaller pieces? Also, when they go into your bladder with the laser, why don't they just blow some saline up in there after they smash them up and hoover them out? I mean, they've already managed to jam a laser and a camera up your dick, surely, sticking a straw up there to flush everything out can't be outside the abilities of medical science.
Also, when they do that, are you awake? I had an endoscopy of my bladder once and I paid out of pocket to have an anesthesiologist on hand with Propofol. "60 year old urologist jamming a camera into my dick" is a memory I'd gladly pay a couple hundred bucks to not have.

This thread has me lost... I have never known anybody who had a kidney stone... are they this common???... honest question no joking what so ever... is this just a white people thing???

I was not awake for the Uretoscopy.
I was awake when they pulled the stent out the following week... not pleasant.
I was awake for the Lithotripsy... it wasn't that bad.
Not sure of the Ethnicity statistics for kidney stones.

The dick part doesn’t hurt usually. I haven’t felt any of mine pass through there. I knew one was coming because it changed my pee stream and I pissed all over the underside of the seat lid. Caught all 3 of mine in strainers. The biggest one was about the size of an average nerds candy.

You learn something every day. I'm assuming you catch it to show the doctor and not for sentimental value or for crafting into jewelry.

I've seen a "kidney stone" that was actually a dissecting renal artery aneurysm, another was a hemorrhagic renal cyst, etc, etc... u won't know unless you go...
