When I was little I thought that if you cut out a gun or a toy from a magazine that it would be real.

Eta I learned quick after I had my grandmother cut out a toy gun and it didn't morph into the real thing.

When I was a kid, I thought Ellen Degeneres was "Ellen The Generous" just because she was a nice person, never thinking Degeneres was her actual last name lol.

When I was little I would always hear our deacon, who was from Chalmette, say that he would be in the "foyah of the church" after mass to talk about something or another. So I always thought that a "foyer" was a "foyah"
One day I told my mom I was going to the foyah to grab something, and she was like, "the what?" She had to explain to me that he had an accent and that I was pronouncing it wrong.
