Things that make you feel old

Bruce Willis was 32 when he made Die Hard.

Also, I remember being in late HS/early college and making fun of Sammy Sosa because he was out of baseball for like a week or two because he injured himself while sneezing. And now, when I sneeze, I have to sit still for like five seconds to make sure I didn't hurt anything, and I've definitely tweaked my back sneezing before.

I was having a conversation with a co-worker the other day about the best concerts/festivals we been to. I said hands down Lollapalooza 1992 had the best line up that I ever witnessed. Then I realized that was 30 years ago.

Part of a conversation with a young model during a photo shoot in the summer:

Her: What's that music?

Me: Paul McCartney.

Her: I've never heard of him.

Me: Sure you have. You know, he was in The Beatles.

Her: The Beatles?

Me: Seriously? You don't know The Beatles? What music do you listen to?

Her: (Names some K-Pop boy band). They sing in English and even play their own instruments!

Not only felt old, but from another planet.

When I was a senior in high school 1989/90 gas was still about $1 a gallon

We used to go to McDonalds and get a small fries, small coke, and a burger for $1.99

I was working at a grocery store my last year of high school and my first 2 years of college. I think i started at $4/hr and was around $4.50/hr when i quit and that seemed like a lot of money

Where to begin???

My first house cost less than a well used car in today's market.

I could buy a pair of Levi jeans AND a 3 pack of boxer underwear for $10.

A grocery basket chock full of food would cost around $50, and that included meat.

A date at the cinema would cost $20 for 2 people, including concessions.

A gallon of gasoline cost less than a bottle of water at Race Track today.

Then the obvious one--------waking up and looking in the mirror.

I got out in my yard now when I'm taking a break from work and pull weeds, and well, kind of like it.

My friends becoming grandparents.

Celebrities who were active and popular when I was a kid dying--and not of overdoses or accidents.

My kid being the same age I was when I got engaged.

My wife (no pics) was talking to the new neighbor across the fence and that neighbor told her “I’ve met the old gentleman working in the garden”.

I was there and agree. Ministry and the Red Hot Chili Peppers were incredible.

Yep, when I was in my early 20's I could buy a six pack of Budweiser 12 ounce cans and a pack of Marlboro in the box with a 5 dollar bill. And get change back
