Pontoon bridges and several other bridges that are out of order or in need of serious repairs while also building 4-5 other new bridges including a 450 million dollar nine mile bridge to Leeville completing a nearly 1 billion dollar bridge to Port Fourchon that started in 2006.

A grave in the middle of town that a major hwy (231/431) has to swerve around. Girl was injured in the 1800’s at a horse racing track and she told her father if she died she wanted to be buried beside the track. Her grave is still there and when they widened the hwy from two lane to four lane they curved the road around the grave instead of moving it.

We have almost a mile long traffic circle in my home town. Shoutout to Elec
Damn, the one in Long Beach is unbelievable and it is nowhere near a mile around it. Hell that would be 1600’ across.

There’s a working payphone on the sidewalk downtown
We are also famous for the luminaries and follow the star thing every Christmas Eve. Rotary/Lions club, churches, etc gets volunteers and kids to line all streets and driveways with lit candles. One of those things that’s you just don’t see communities do anymore that reminds you what Christmas is really about

This was in my town. Went viral online a few years ago. It is no longer hanging there bc they built a taller bridge there. It is now on display in the train depot I think I is what I heard.

Red River Station. It was a Texas Ranger post where the Chisholm Trail crossed the Red River. There is a historical marker there along with several graves from the Indian wars.
