Things are going great in Chicago between Mayor Beetlejuice and the Police

How convenient for her that NOW is not that time for divisive rhetoric.

They turned away and gave her their backs.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot was given the cold shoulder by CPD rank and file about midnight Saturday at the University of Chicago Medical Center when she approached them on the 7th floor as they grappled with the shootings of two fellow officers.
Chicago Police Officer Ella French was shot and killed during a traffic stop Saturday night in West Englewood, while her partner continues to fight for his life at the hospital. Three people are in custody.
Just moments before about 30 officers turned their backs on the mayor, Lightfoot tried to talk to the male officer’s father, who himself is a retired Chicago police officer. He clearly wanted nothing to do with Lightfoot, according to two sources who were there.
The father excoriated the mayor and blamed her for what had happened. One source said Lightfoot handled herself well as the father yelled at her. She listened and treated him with respect.

It was then suggested that Lightfoot say a few words to nearby grieving officers, but as she approached, they all walked away from her and to the other side of a bank of chairs — and turned their backs, the sources said.
“They did the about-face — it looked like it had been choreographed,” said one of the sources present, calling it “astounding.”
Lightfoot appeared shaken, according to one source. Then she went downstairs to speak to reporters at a news conference about the shooting.
quote:
“As the mayor stated . . . now is not the time for divisive and toxic rhetoric or reporting. This is a time for us to come together as a city. We have a common enemy and it is the conditions that breed the violence and the manifestations of violence, namely illegal guns, and gangs.”

Too late, Beetlejuice

The national media and Beetlejuice will spin it as the cops being the bad guys...

All reporters or did she segregate them first?

Lightfoot has legalized recreational marijuana and so far has not gone crazy with mask mandates
She's really not as bad as y'all think she is

Well when she makes it to where they can’t even do their job and if they do much of anything and have to use even a tiny bit of force to handcuff someone, they are in fear of being arrested, what the frick does she expect?

Even after her staff is killed and fighting for their lives she is politicking.
This is why I have no hope. People who seek political power are corrupt and those who would do well to serve the people have no desire to rise through the ranks by means of corruption.
This is sad.

She is contributing to the problem by ignoring the severity of the violence and hamstringing the police and everyone knows it. Now she will reap what she has sown and it couldn't happen to a more unlikable and useless person. frick her. All voters everywhere need to take notice and stop electing people who do nothing to keep their citizens and police force safe.

She's a tyrant.
-Ignores her own mandates
-Tells white reporters they are not welcome
-self genocide on the Southside
Across the nation she is viewed as a buffoon.

But two years into her term, with Chicago bracing for a turbulent summer as crime levels spike, critics say that Lightfoot has not only failed to live up to her campaign promises, but is facing a crisis of credibility that she may not be able to overcome.

Aren't there more shooting deaths per capita in Chicago or something than the Vietnam War?
Or am I making that up?

There was a stat, maybe it was just a certain area of Chicago or timeframe. I'll try to find it.
ETA:
Found it.
July 4th weekend there were 82 shooting victims. That is roughly the pace of the Vietnam War and over a much smaller area than Vietnam. Obviously a shorter timeframe too.
That was the stat, so you guys can all chill, wasn't trying to spread false info, just a question.

I love the way you people conveniently leave out the self genocide occurring in your city by claiming it's worse elsewhere.

As they should. It's time for the people of Chicago to vote in people who will be tough on crime and not let the criminal element thrive.

IIRC, it was when the Cossacks turned on the Czars that the revolution really gained steam.

She listened, but there is no respect for police with that woman.

I'm sorry that I replied to the question about murders per capita with a stat about murders per capita.
I promise next time I will just say something like "OMG it's a fricking warzone worse than Vietnam and WWII combined it's nothing but Antifas everywhere I'm afraid for my life" just for you, OK?
