They tried to sedate the Lion first?

If a lion grabs a human and is killing the human, you do not risk the time to sedate the lion. You immediately shoot to kill. You go in with a fire ax if need be. This woman's family is going to own a zoo soon but I am sure the would rather their daughter back.

Honestly they were running a good chance of killing the lion with darts anyway.
Once an animal is amped up its all a bigger crapshoot than usual in having the right dose.
It'll be interesting to see a timeline of when and where the guns were grabbed from. And if any protocol for enclosure inspection was violated.

Story is all kinds of messed up.
A zoo shouldn't allow an intern access to enclosures, especially an animal like a lion, without the full time keeper present. The enclosures should have multiple doors to prevent this kind of thing from happening.
If an animal like a lion has a human, you shoot to kill. By the time a dart will sedate the animal, the person could be dead 10 times

No disrespect to the deceased, but if it had been a 4 month old lion cub, she'd be on the talk show circuit like that cat out west.

That makes it even worse, and the fault is very much more so on the zoo. If a ball was blocking the gate, that would be like a random act of god type thing, whereas the gate not closing properly because of a malfunction, can be pinned solely on the Zoo.

Also, you work at a zoo sometimes the animals bite. shite happens baw. I feel sorry for the woman but damn you are working at a damn zoo where accidents are possible. Need to sue everyone over anything these days. Unless some sort of malevolence was at play a judge should deny any further traction here.
