My wife did too. It didn't reach bad cold level though. Fairly mild but messed up our eating out routine because she lost her sense of smell and taste.

I think I had a touch of it, but it passed very quickly.

Some healthy people get wrecked by the latest strain.

I just had it for the 2nd time since it started 4 years ago or whatever. First time was nothing. This time, however, has kicked my arse. 102-103 fever for like 4 days, body aching like a bad flu. Finally after a week, I'm starting to cough some of the garbage out of my chest, but can't stop coughing now.

It has been brutal, but still not bad enough for me to get vaccinated against something like that.

In June, the CDC recommended that everyone over 6 months old receive an updated Covid vaccine and flu jab this year. The new shots from Pfizer and Moderna are specifically approved for people ages 12 and older and are authorized under emergency use for children 6 months through 11 years old.

CDC has no conscience.

I think I had it a couple of weeks ago. Felt crummy for a couple of days. But I have a nagging cough that won't go away.

Biggest insane asylum on the internet.

Covid is ripping through college campuses

quote:

I’m an undergraduate student at a big college, and we’re only a few days into the new semester. Still, within less than two weeks of people being back, covid is spreading like wildfire. It’s probably through a combination of Greek life events, people going to the restaurants and bars around, and classes restarting, but it’s horrific. I don’t think it’s ever been this bad, and I struggle to even describe the type of coughing I’m hearing - it’s this deep hacking that sounds like it should be in a period drama tuberculosis ward instead of a lecture hall in real life.

People are often some level of sick, but I don’t think it’s ever been like this. Discussion apps like yikyak are full of people talking about being sick or testing positive. I’m doing the best I can to stay safe - masking, cpc mouthwash, a netti pot, and switching one of my classes online - but it feels slightly like impending doom due to the absolute tidal wave of covid that’s hit.

There are very few people masking here. I and another covid conscious person I met are trying to set up some sort of community for the few covid conscious people on campus, but we’re worried about trolls or not getting enough engagement. I have chronic health issues that make covid a big concern for me, and I also have a radiation treatment coming up that I don’t want to be delayed or affected by getting sick (although I have a little more time until the treatment).

It’s gotten so bad here with the spread, and I doubt it’ll slow down for some time thanks to parties, classes, and people not isolating or taking it seriously. I don’t know if there’s much I can get out of this post, but I just needed to vent because this feels slightly terrifying. This is also a bit of a stream of consciousness, so I apologise if anything is misspelled or hard to understand.

If this is going on on any SEC campus and we still have people young enough attending these universities, fricking crash it.

Partner doesn’t always mask - are my efforts pointless?

quote:

I live with my partner who is really into sports - he trains Jiu Jitsu several times a week as well as weight lifting daily… all unmasked.

I have already felt like I have controlled so much of what he does. He masks in supermarkets but doesn’t feel comfortable when he is doing his exercise. I don’t want to push the issue with him because I already feel I have asked for a lot and our life together has changed a lot already.

I mask everywhere except outdoors in nature. I go to the gym together with him but it just feels pointless for me to take these precautions if he isn’t as surely I will catch anything from him. We are together most of the time, but at least when I am out and about shopping by myself I am still reducing the risk by masking I guess.

We live in a tiny 1 bed studio flat, no garden, so there is no way I can ‘quarantine’ him or sleep in a separate space. I’m looking into an air filter but money is really tight so I’m not sure what to do. Would love any recommendations (UK)?

Is anyone else in a similar position?

So much joy in life with your partner.

I just checked that out and holy crap, I feel bad for those people. Covid really did some damage. Some of those people are never gonna recover. It's pretty sad.

You say that, but then you remember these are the same people who demanded that if you didn’t comply or get vaccinated/boosted that you should lose your job, be thrown out of your home, left to starve, cut off from all society, and be barred from hospitals, so I say frick these people. They’re evil genocidal scumbags and idiots too.

Your anger should be towards Fauci and his fellow conspirators, which hopefully in a few months RFK will be AG and these Nazi scientists will finally pay for their crimes, if they don’t flee the country first. And if they do flee the country to China and they won’t extradite them back, then do the trial without them, and once pronounced guilty send a sniper after them.
