This is a very interesting discussion we seem to be having. The reason the discussion does not presume that this man is competent is not that we don't trust the board to have made a good choice. Given the selection of Sean O'Keefe, King Alexander, and that dentist who used to treat Edwin Edwards, such lack of trust would be reasonable. Instead, the discussion seems to be based on the assumption that Bill Tate is incompetent, unqualified, has no standards, will pull the university down - all because he is black. He is a real intellectual - he went back to earn a master's degree in epidemiology after he was a tenured professor - and a seasoned administrator at universities far above LSU in the pecking order. And as for the suspicion about his critical race theory article . . . the article has been cited almost 7,000 times. The reasoning stands up to scrutiny by peers. For those who say that the board was forced into this situation, my answer is a question: Except for the student member, is there anyone on the board who is without the intestinal fortitude to say no when they think it's necessary? I doubt it. Instead of criticizing Bill Tate out of ignorance, maybe we should be congratulating the board for not hiring someone who didn't have enough strength to stand up to 45's attempts to undermine science or someone who lied on his resume and was silly enough to think he wouldn't get caught and later stupid enough to say it doesn't matter.
Why you hiding behind an alter?

Academia is the source of the critical race garbage...
why don't they try scriptures if they want people to change?

LSU has made it very clear that they don’t like white males. I understand, and they can shove it. Sports and all.

It's actually a theme from crt.

And this is why you should be ignored as a race baiter.
The issue people have with him IS NOT his race, it's the fact that all he seems to SEE is race, based on his resume. This same resume, were it the resume of a white man or own would be met with the same level of disdain. His entire career looks like one that is based on dividing rather than today's buzzword, "uniting." And all at a time in our country when it's the lest helpful.
Next time, try harder. As usual, the only ones focused on race are the left in 2021.

O'Keefe was sort of an empty suit. Alexander actually left the University worse than when he found it. frick him.

Seriously this statement brands you as intellectually dishonest at worse...colossally foolish at best.

No, that's your assumption. This thread is chock full of the exact reason why everyone is against this pick.

It's not just one article.

Yes, peers who already agree with Critical Theory. Getting people who already agree with your philosophy to agree with you again is no grand feat.
The reason people here are against Tate is his proven track record of loyalty to the re-packaged Marxist philosophy of Critical Theory with its swapping of capital for identity (race, gender, etc) as the delineating factor between the proletariat and bourgeoisie. Just like Critical Theory is nothing but repackaged Marxism, Tate is just repackaged F. King. Failure under a new and different name is still failure.

But this is the default retort, isn't it?
First, be a racist and support CRT as actual science when it's clear it's simply part of the myriad of grievance studies which have taken hold in academia over the past 30 years.
When someone points to your obvious racism, you call THEM a racist for criticizing you, and then double down by suggesting that's exactly why racists hate you and the criticism further proves your point.
Rinse, repeat.
In essence, unless you fully support this hire, or hires like it, you're a racist by default.

Remember when everyone here hated F. King all because he was black?

I think the ne Sokal hoax exposed these "peer reviewed" articles as total nonsense when they got their completely made up papers about rape culture in dog parks and their riff on mein kampf published in these "respected" journals.
It's the equivalent of saying your paper about bigfoot is completely legit because it was reviewed and published by the world's foremost bigfoot experts.
