I did have a friend with a business in that area say there is an extortion hustle where less than talented musicians will stay and play until paid to move on by a business owner.
I would think a water hose would work as a cheaper alternative here

Is there really a significant amount of tourism at that area of Frenchmen? Looking at that area it would appear to me it would be a normal business area. Why would a band setup there that late and far from Bourbon or Jackson Square?

Pretty much where you go if you’re a tourist and want to watch live music.

Tons of foot traffic at night

The area that runs between Esplanade, Elysian Fields and St Claude has mostly become Air BnB.

FAB Art & Books 600 Frenchmen St New Orleans, 70116 (504) 947-3700
quote:
What you’re seeing is the oldest gay and lesbian store in New Orleans. FAB, Faubourg Marigny Art & Books, a gay and lesbian bookstore, was once a “neighborhood store” in the 70s. Owner, Otis Fennell, has been around since then and loves the traffic of interested Frenchmen Street patrons that visit his store every day. “It’s a good crowd. They’re not expecting to find a bookstore. They kind of wobble walking by and then they come in to explore. Then they find out it’s a gay bookstore that actually has New Orleans books and a lot of other books. I’ve had fun with that. It’s been a lot of fun for me,” says Fennell. Nestled on the corner of Frenchmen and Chartres Streets, FAB is home to an extensive collection of GBLT literature, and other local and national books. The walls are covered with paintings that symbolize GBLT and local New Orleans artistry. The store also hosts book signings and readings by local authors. “This site was the perfect place to do a GBLT bookstore. I brought the art in and that really made a big difference,” says Fennell.
So we have the gays against the blacks and vice versa.
eta..they've been on Frenchmen for a while. So I don't want to hear about people who open a store on Frenhmen should be prepared for that.

have said it here before. Crime was at an all time high in the 80's and 90's yet there was almost zero violent crime on Bourbon Street. You know why? Because the NOPD ruled with an iron fist. You got out of line and you got smacked, cuffed and dumped in the OPP. People knew it and the thugs stayed out of the area. The pendulum will swing back when tourists stop coming
Those days are gone forever. Cell phones brah

That band has been a pain in the arse on that corner for a few years now. Besides clogging up the charters street intersection so you can't drive through if you're heading to the Marigny/bywater, they drown out gigging bands in adjacent bars that are trying to abide by a reasonable sound level.
