Several years ago I took Missy, my schnauzer, to the animal clinic. She was due to have puppies any day. The guy on duty took x-rays of her and said he needed to do emergency surgery on her. After he cut her open, Missy crashed on the table and he ran out of the room and hid. Turns out, he was posing as a veterinarian. Missy and her babies died.
I went to the sheriff’s office to file charges and the magistrate who was friends with the guy’s parents and grandparents told me, “it’s just a dog.”
I called the TN Dept of Health. They sent an investigator down the next day to interview me, then went and shut the animal clinic down.
It gets worse, I found out the guy posing as a vet had been dismissed by a hospital in a neighboring town because he faked being a doctor and they allowed him to work in the ER where a patient of his died. Instead of reporting him to the state, they just told him to leave and the hospital shredded his personnel records.

I came out and paid. But didn’t wait in line.

But they put signs up for other customers to be respectful when it’s happening.

People are generally respectful if they know someone is in the back saying goodbye.

I took a break from owning pets for awhile. I don’t handle this well at all.

My dog was put down at LSU. They refused to let us check out at the desk afterwards (like, in a nice way.. because we were sad) and said they'd find us/invoice us later.

I think they mailed a bill weeks later.

Otherwise, try to prepay.

So use part of your dogs final minutes to pay for his death while he’s not with you?

Hell yes I remember his name. I’ll never forget it. Timothy Holton, he is now a minister. 2012, the state fined him $4,000 for practicing without a license and I believe he was sentenced to 2 weeks in jail if I recall correctly.

We have our dogs cremated, so arrangements are made with Heavens Pets in Metairie to pick them up from the vet office. We pay up front, have everything done in a private room and the vet leaves us with them so say our goodbyes. Once we leave they take them in the back and store them until they're picked up by Heavens Pets.

I think I would have just left. What are they going to do, un-euthanize him?

Imagine if your dog had cancer, and you have to put them down, right when the plandemic started. You have to say goodbye to the best boy and hand him off to someone to go kill, because they don't let people intp the offices anymore. I will never fricking forgive Democrats for that shite, and I'll leave it at that.

We had ours put down at home with e a mobile service, she hates going to the vet so we didn't want to put her through that.

You paid in advance and they came to the house, walked us through everything and then did it.

They then let you spend as much time as you need then they take the dog away. We had her cremated and you pick up the ashes in about a week.

I said goodbye to my boxer and best friend and then listened as she whimpered and howled while being euthanized.

It was awful and it was a vet on Airline hwy in Gonzales next to the post office.

They told me she wouldn’t suffer and they lied.

I had to compose myself from going postal in the office.

I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Do anybody’s dogs just die naturally at home? We have an 18 year old dog and I’m hoping she just dies naturally. I can’t imagine euthanizing her, and reading this thread is making me want to throw up.

Our vet handled it very well. They have a room with an exterior door and let you spend as much time in there with the now deceased dog and you leave out the exterior door when you're ready. Then you come back to pay for the procedure later on when you are ready. I wouldnt want to do it any other way unless there was a pre-pay option.

That’s terrible. Did they not sedate her before euthanizing her? My vet sedated my dog first. He barked once at the time of the shot because it stings apparently but almost immediately he started to lose his footing on the table so I grabbed him and ease him down to a laying position. His breathing slowed down and he just looked around, drooling. I talked to him while holding his head until he was completely asleep. Then about three minutes later the vet came back in with the final shot. I heard his last breath almost immediately and his breathing stopped. It was quite peaceful.

You are in for a rude awakening if you think there can't be many things worse than standing in line to pay after they have euthanized your dog. Sorry for your loss and animals are great companions, but it's a small part of life that has many ebbs and flows.
