We’d need major advances in satellite internet technology to make that work. Trying to get a cell signal, let alone wifi, in a remote area is still extremely difficult. Heck, they don’t have internet service period at the Grand Canyon.

True. But that’s very remote and obscure areas. I’m talking not off the beaten path like that.

Wow then my friend got screwed. She's paying 1200 in some sort of building that shares a kitchen and bathroom between 3 rooms.

I think people are overestimating people’s desire to move away from big cities, as well as how common wfh, live anywhere you want jobs will be

People talk a lot about how they’d love to live in the country, but it’s just that... talk

I'd live in a medium/small city or just outside of one. I don't really want to live in an extremely rural area because I don't want to take care of land or drive 20 miles to the store.

Your priorities and desired lifestyle may change when you get a little older.

As long as you have internet, you can work from wherever if working remotely becomes acceptable across various sectors.

What will make this interesting is if Musk can deliver on what he promised with StarLink.

ETA: Imagine living on a couple hundred acres in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by prime hunting and fishing lands, and still pulling 500Mb/s or more.

New York is finished! Big Apple born-and-bred entrepreneur pens devastating blog on why city will never recover after being devastated by Covid, looting and a crime wave

A born and bred New Yorker has laid bare why the city will never recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, a dark week of looting in June and its ongoing struggle against escalating crime, homelessness and violence.

James Altrucher, who co-owns a comedy club in the city and also describes himself as an angel investor and author, is among the many who have fled New York City.

He and his family fled to Miami after the June riots and looting made them fear for their lives and their children's safety, when people tried to break into his apartment building.

He is convinced that the city will not 'bounce back', as many claim it will, and explains that unlike in previous times of crisis like 9/11 or the crime wave of the 70s, there is nothing bringing people back now because everyone can work remotely.

What?

Seeing new incredible places and going wherever you want

You like being where you are 365 days a year?

it's already in beta. People are pulling 60Mb/s and that's before anywhere near full rollout, satellite crosslink, or all of the ground stations being in place.

What has happened to accents
Even the “New Yorkers/NJers” i meet don’t sound like i thought they would

And you can even see it on here, people typing “you guys” not y’all

I think people have "trained" themselves to sound like you average person on TV, especially those who work with people in other states. Just so they don't stand out.

I stopped saying y'all because 90% of my clients are in California. Every time I travel there for work, people are blown away I'm from the south because I don't have a southern accent.

You're 27. I thought exactly as you did when I was your age, and damn sure lived it up....as I'm sure you will.

Now I hate people and want to be as far from them as possible.

I don't necessarily hate people but the desire to be left alone grows in me more every year. I see a lone house on the top of a mountain sometimes when I'm traveling and think that I want to be that guy. Particularly if I can start getting drone deliveries
