So I just got a phone call that my caller id said was from New York. I answered and the guy on the phone says that I’m being investigated by the IRS and if I do not send $, that the local police in my area will arrest me on a warrant. I told they guy to f*ck off...in the next week, I received 2 more calls which I don’t answer. I would really like to piss this dude off...What would yalls response be if y’all got one of these scam phone calls..this should be interesting.

Keep them on the line as long as possible. They have to call a metric ton of people before someone is dumb enough to bite. Waste their time.

Pretend to cooperative dumb arse. Stumble around with his directions, make him repeat numerous times. Eat up as much time as possible then at the very end be yourself of laugh at him.

Post their number. I like to mess with them on my commute.

I got one from Berkeley, California last week. I was bored in traffic so I called back. I got a female and got her to break character. She told me they are from Pakistan and that it has become very hard to fool anyone anymore. I asked why steal from other people and she said it’s the only way to support her family. I thanked her for being honest and that was it.

I usually play along and try to draw it out as long as I can. If you make them believe that you believe them it’s incredible how long you can keep them on your phone.

At various times throughout the call I will pretend to have another call coming in and put them on mute. The call usually ends with me asking them to wait while I look for my credit card to make the payment.

I have a depleted gift card in my wallet. I think it has a hair over $1 left. So if I get a scammer who tries to run it for $1 they'll try to use it later and get a rude surprise.
