Actually, they could barely stand each other. She was a "serious" actor and Andy was a jumped up comic and it was his show.

Also, "eww".

(Andy was stepping out on his wife with Aneta Corsaut(Helen) IRL.)

If we're talking recurring, I can agree. If not, recall that absolutely stunning, in her prime "10" Barbara Eden played the manicurist not long before Jeannie.

Sad to hear.
Opey is about the only actor from that show still alive.

Ellie (Elinor Donahue) is still around. She is 84.

Ernest T actor

At a certain point, the Yankees were making fun of us.

Earnest T. Bass (Howard Morris) was actually from The Bronx. Boss Hogg (Sorrell Booke) was from Buffalo, NY.

True story, funny story - Maurice Evans (British-born American actor who went from working with Olivier to playing Samantha's father, Maurice, on Bewitched, The Puzzler in Batman and Dr. Zaius in the OG Planet of the Apes) was the company commander of an Army Special Services unit during WWII. Morris (Earnest T.) was the First Sergeant and the company included Carl Reiner and Werner Klemperer (COL Klink).

On one episode, Peggy's rich Daddy sent her a white 62 Thunderbird Sports Roadster convertible with the Kelsey Hayes wire wheels out of the blue. Great car for an early 60s smokeshow like Peg. That car is in my top 10.

It appeared on several episodes with other characters driving it. Just about every car seen driven on Andy Griffith show was a Ford.

Fun fact…Betty Lynn wasn’t originally from Mounty Airy, but moved there because she liked the people and recognition.

There are youtube videos of people who go there and record their trip, and I've seen her in a couple of videos. She moved to a nursing home nearby, and would go to autograph signings on the days she felt up to it. Just a neat story.

The reason why all the characters in Mayberry were so happy was that nobody was married.

Otis was married.

Eta:Hater beat me to it.

Also was the one episode married couple where they fought with each other all the time and Andy and Barney tried to help them by being nice to each other. " Morning, dear", "Hello, honey"

The police cars that were used on the show were donated and then when they replaced them, the old cars would be repainted and sold; none were kept for collectors, etc.
