Bought a hybrid instead getting great mpg and cut my gas budget in half.

Yep, I got a Hybrid in December, and my gas budget has dropped off the cliff. For sure, it's the way to go.

I got one in September, and it's fricking awesome. Hybrid is where it's at.

Minor boost in fuel economy from the supplemental power helps manufacturers hit fleet mpg EPA requirements

Minor? It's a 15-20 mpg increase on city driving.

+17 mpg on a Camry
+17 mpg on an Accord for example

For a commuter car it's a big fricking difference. You made several posts about hybrids, but you don't seem to actually know much about how they work or what they're for.

A few weeks ago I was talking with someone and we were seeing where they had chargers for EVs around BR. There is one on Florida Blvd and we were just talking about what do you do if you from out of town (I don't think anyone would travel from state to state in an EV, but its just a "what if") and you are on i1-10 and all of a sudden you realize your car needs charging. Its 1AM on a Friday night during the summer and you see that the closest charger is on Florida blvd. They would just have to sit there and wait for it to charge right?Or at least for it to charge just enough. I know the same can happen if someone is running out of gas, but i'd rather have to stop, get gas and be on my way than to have to sit and wait for a battery to charge

Are you talking about hybrid or PHEV? There’s a huge difference. There’s zero chance a hybrid with a sub 2kwh battery is contributing that much MPG.

I’m happy to discuss.

Got to be a PHEV. The Volvo PHEV battery is 18.8 kWh. On pure electric I can go 42 miles... on pure hybrid with the brake regen on, the MPH gets upwards of... I wanna say 48ish? Unless the trip computer resets... I have literally, for a brief time, seen where I was getting 1,650 MPH. Not too shabby. . Average... right at 32-34 if running hybrid in power mode.

Now... if you use the car to recharge the battery... the MPH drops off a cliff... like 15. So that's just dumb.

The only downside is the charging time. You can't just pull up to a Tesla supercharger and top off your battery in 15 minutes.

“What is the battery life of a hybrid?”

Awhile back I asked my service advisor at Toyota dealer what is life of batteries in a Prius.
He told me he has seen several with 300,000 miles on original batteries.

We have a ‘16 Prius,gets 50 mpg ,grandson in college drives it.Wife has a ‘22 Prius,gets 60 mpg.
I have a Highlander Hybrid,I get 35 mpg.

I was, planning on getting the Tacoma Hybrid when they came out but I’ve changed my mind now,too damned expensive, and only gets 24 mpg.No better than the non hybrid Tacoma.Has good bit more hp and torque but I don’t really need the extra power. Not for what they’re asking for them.
