I’ve actually gotten used to the hard winters here. Cold doesn't bother me but I couldn’t imagine being back in Louisiana where I’m from right now with the heat and humidity. Screw that hot arse place.

Nah. I live in Wisconsin now after living in Looziana for a long time. You can have those long Louisiana oppressively hot and humid 6 and 7 month long hell's steam room summers.

SoCal coastal weather is the GOAT. Absolutely perfect year round. Give or take a few days or rain or a short couple day heat wave.

A friend of mine from Colorado went to visit her boyfriend’s parents in NJ by Ocean City last Christmas and complained that she was freezing the whole time. They couldn’t understand how a girl from Colorado couldn’t handle the NJ winter.

I know people from Colorado who said they have never been colder in their lives than when they were in New Orleans at like 37 degrees. The humid cold may be worse than humid heat. Cuts right through your clothes to your bones.

West coast best coast. You don't have to deal with any of the extremes

I couldn't stand to be outside doing anything in New Orleans for 7 months out of the year aka summer.

Agreed, coastal Oregon doesn't suck either especially along the southern coast

Anyone who's lived in the South for any period of time knows that we are in the hottest part of the year RN. After the 1st week of August it's downhill

This dumb trope always gets repeated in these threads.

I go for runs at 3 in the afternoon when it's 92 degrees out

If we do that here during that time of day, we'd be absolutely drenched.

Best times for runs here during the summer are in the morning before 9

In places like Boone NC, the summers are awesome as it’s 75-80 in the summer. From October to March it’s a block of ice.

The High Country of NC has a similar climate to Western PA/Eastern Ohio/Northern WV.

And I wanna eventually retire there.

Yes I would rather be hot than cold. Both very uncomfortable but the cold just makes lock up and unable to move. Cold is more miserable imo

you have no idea what you’re talking about. Winters in the Midwest are significantly more mild than they were when I was a kid.

I will admit that it is warmer.than when I was a kid(80's-mid 90's) but we also need to remember that we are still only 35-40 years removed from the end of the mini ice-age that lasted about 350 years.

Everything is cyclical

I have no doubt that 45 degrees feels colder in higher humidity than in little to no humidity.

But that simple idea gets turned into silly statements like seen in the poster I responded to.

Or people that say "oh but it's a dry cold" when you're trying to explain winters in the north.
