I always wondered what the percentage of gifts were defaulted on due to taxes. Outside vacations and cars, I remember the items being useless junk to 12 yr old me.

I always wondered 1) why a seemingly popular show was mostly giving people a chance to win garbage prizes and 2) why the prizes were so repetitive. Did Bob Barker’s uncle own a furniture shop and do a weekly surplus drop at the PIR warehouse? Someone connected to the show owned a car lot specializing in cars under $20k.
