Good question. He sure does have a lot of time in the middle of a weekday to post on tigerdroppings for someone who talks so much shite about entitlement and "paying your own way."

Is today your day off, Lnchbox? That might give us a big clue.

Says the guy that was right here with me

Amazing you found your back to this thread when it devolved into a couple of nut sniffers blasting me and you wanted to jump in.

I'm able to post in the middle of the day because my job is so awesome. But my job is pretty atypical. Yours?

I respectfully and humbly disagree, but I guess there's really no way to know. My objective in posting most of the time is to make people mad where as yours is to strike your ego and self perceived worth so I guess we can let the people decide on that one.

That's all fair, but in your opinion is there a limit to the type of degree a parent should fund?

Example: should a parent fund a $60k/year tuition so their child can pursue their religious theology degree? $50k? $30k?

Now take that degree and place it on a sliding scale from Lesbian Dance Theory to Quantum Physicist. Where do you draw the line?

I now have to review a giant contract.

Your anger still amuses me. And yes, I jumped back in after accomplishing a few things. I will jump back out in a sec to accomplish a few more things.

Well, yes that was a serious post. I seriously think you derive your self confidence being an anonymous keyboard warrior.

I entirely understand there being a limit.

I'm honestly not trying to be a dick, but you just asked a question I answered in the very post you responded to

Dude you talk at the very least, just as much shite on here as I do. Stop trying to pretend you're above it all. Do I need to link the overweight according to the chart thread?

So don't take 18 hours, take 6 or 9, what does it matter when you are 40 years old that it took 6 years to graduate instead of 4.

2 years of salary plus compounding interest on whatever you saved?

People in this thread suggesting it's bad parenting (not necessarily directed at you) are being ridiculous.

Not suggesting that it is bad parenting. I'm suggesting that it is a bad decision if the means are there to do it. What I'm reading is a bunch of people saying the following: "I paid my own way and I turned out fine. Therefore, I will do the same for my kid (i.e., because they, too, will turn out fine)." That's a ridiculous argument that has no basis in fact.

Might they turn out fine? Sure. But the same argument can be made about just about anything. "I did cocaine and I turned out fine. So, it isn't harmful."

If the actual evidence shows that kids who don't have to pay for college graduate at a higher rate, what is this argument actually about???

Probably more but it comes from a completely different place. I do it because I have time on my hands and think it's funny to flame 40 something year old guys that take the internet way too seriously. You do it to compensate for some unknown self confidence or worth issue.

Well that's how people, almost unanimously, on this site view you so at some point doesnt perception become reality?

But where would YOU draw the line is what I'm asking.

I'm asking because your line and mine might be different. Neither of us would be necessarily right or wrong.

Support your kid to help them become the best adult they can be, but nothing states you have to fund their bad decisions along the way. I don't see that as encouraging them to do something they aren't good at as you said. Maybe it is doscourai g them from making a big financial mistake that they may regret in the future.

And you don't think there's a board opinion about you? Fun fact, it isn't that you're some flexible guy that thinks he's funny.
