Lived in Huntington West Virginia(Central Appalachia) for 3 years.
Nice people. Beautiful terrain.
But, the poverty is astounding.
In big cities, poor people have access to educational and social programs. Not really so in Appalachia.
Despite poverty, violent crime rates are comparatively low.
