ETA: that same study talked about host species learning to identify the parasitic egg and they destroy it before hatching.

So basically if a species adapts and says “that’s it, we’ve had enough of this bullshite. Our offspring are suffering just to keep these damn Brown-Headed Cowbirds coasting.” And start eliminating the eggs and not feeding them what they want, the problem kind of sorts itself out.

They will go after the path of least resistance and a few obstacles makes them choose a different host, exponentially increasing the quality of life for the host species which were able to adapt and preserve their offspring.

The Cuckoo would be the one making you press the button for him even when he was right in front of it, then farting loudly.

So apparently one way to combat them is to stop feeding them whatever foods they desire.

Inundate a population with nursery rhymes, books, movies, music with only examples of toxic relationships.

Divorce rates skyrocket. Family income declines.

Previously unavailable women with children now desperately need resources to provide for their brood.

Sir,
This is absurd,
Can’t you see that we’re talkin’ ‘bout birds,
Perhaps you should reread my words,
Cause I’m not sure what you think that you heard.

Utilize cartoons, books, movies and music to plant the seeds of division.

Saber rattle using propaganda to foment war with chosen adversary.

Send men in their prime mating age range to battlefield.

Eliminate competition.

Hundreds of thousands of widows in economic need.

Since when did birds learn to use computers or even pencils sufficiently to make cartoons, much less develop the cartoons to subconsciously push an ideology?

Also, I’m very unfamiliar with the political leanings of sparrows compared to Carolina wrens. Could you educate me on their preferred economic philosophies?

Be wrinkled deformed old man with no discernable skill but a head full of esoteric factoids.

Enlist others like yourself and bestow title and rank upon one another.

Call yourself University and now go co-ed.

Invite young people to slovenly slurp at your every elucidation.

Promote those that glorify your position and sexualize your power.

Check time on cuckoo clock, time to choose a young fertile mate.

Now perhaps I’ve heard,
That a fit young bird,
Can go for a wise old owl,
For it take some age,
To grow skilled and sage,
And to learn how to hunt and prowl,

And the owl might see,
A young chickadee,
And offer it a fat plump mouse,
But it fails to feed,
For it just eats seed,
And for flesh it will grate and grouse,

Along came a Robin,
and a pair of Tits bobbin,
When it all took a Tern for the worse,
The look of the Pheasant,
Was wholly unpleasant,
As the Jackdaw sang a sour verse,

The Pigeons and Plovers,
Were munching on clovers,
And the Falcon would not give an inch,
Thieving Magpies will go,
With the Raven and Crow,
Leaving flowers behind for the Finch

Vivarium. Pretty good disturbing movie on the lines of Hitchcock.

I’ll have to check it out. I love Hitchcock.

And wouldn’t you know one of my favourites is “The Birds”

The Brown-headead Cowbird is the main one in most of the Southeast.

Not just the Southeast. Brown-headed Cowbirds nearly drove the Kirtland's Warbler into extinction. The only thing that saved it is that the government is now setting traps for Brown-headed Cowbirds in Michigan where the Kirtland's Warbler breeds. They kill all Brown-headed Cowbirds females that they find in the traps. Texas is doing the same to protect other species. Fack a Cowbird.

Brown-Headed Cowbirds sound awful.
How do they do the traps? Putting things the BHC likes in it? How does it discriminate between other birds? Or are other birds not so shitty as to go and try to invade other birds nests?
