They are giving students and extra week for winter break instead.

I literally don’t see what this accomplishes. Kids are still going to get together on the extra week.

Keep kids away from campus during the “winter surge”
Don’t think they are cancelling Spring break to prevent get togethers in April, they are canceling to extended winter break

They act like the students won't just drive an hour or 2 from campus on the weekends to go hang out in groups on the beach once it starts to warm up in March and April.

Or, perhaps they'll do so over the "winter break" since they go to school in...Florida. It's not uncommon to have 80 degree days in south Florida in Dec, Jan, Feb. Hell, that's WHY people from the NE and MW travel there during the winter

Would've taken a gap year regardless.
This isn't college. I'm not wasting one of the best 4-5 years of my life because of these restrictions. Period.
I would not come back to college until there are no football, bar, restaurant, house party, etc. restrictions.
