90%+ of cab drivers are pure trash, I am glad I no longer have to deal with them.

The taxi problem in baton rouge as everyone claims that is prob 20% yellow cab fault and 80% public. I drive for yellow cab and let me tell ya I waste more time going to pick someone up who called for a cab but went back in the bar and didn't hear their phone ringing.

The last three times I called Yellow Cab the cab didn't show up for over two hours. The last time I paid a limo who was waiting outside the casino to bring me home. Two hours and fourty-five minutes later my phone rang and the guy asked me where I was. I told him I was already home because he didn't show for over two hours. He actually had the nerve to ask for my credit card number because "he showed up."

I signed up for Uber day one. frick Yellow Cab. I hope Uber puts them out of business.

You may even be giving the public too much credit. I do agree that the cab problem is mostly the Baton Rouge public's fault, but I welcome UBER as a transportation option to keep everyone in the transportation business on their toes.

The UBER drivers they have hired so far are pretty lazy in my opinion, seems they are working 1 night a week. I got stranded last week and had to get Yellow Cab home. Side note on transportation options, CATS has greatly improved their product(still a long way to go), and look forward to trying them out soon.

Tell them why cabbies don't like taking CC...isn't it because they can only cash them in once a month w/o having to pay a percentage to YC.

I don't think you've done yourself many favors in this thread. The driver I know told me how it all works and I changed from hating our cabbies to feeling bad for them...the hate should be directed more at the company instead of the drivers.

true when I lived in BR I had about 10 drivers in my phone and I would call them first and I always got decent service. Most of them, I would call and were working that night. I would reserve them for 1:50 at bogies and they would pick me up by 2.

Also the small cab company with the white van or white cars were way better than yellow cab.

Another problem, everyone in BR calls yellow cab, while there are different and better options out there

Yellow cab Baton Rouge is one of the worst cab companies I've ever experienced. Every single time I have called or requested one, it took me at least 45 minutes if not longer to get one.

I have not personally experienced Uber in BR, but I use it ALL the time in Houston and every other city that I have ever been to with uber service. Uber blows cabs out of the water with service and convenience, no questions about it.

I don't think I'll ever go back to cabs if I had the option to uber

I don't know all about the rest but..

When you call your insurance then begin to tell them how and what you were doing they will then tell you sir you have a personal ins policy not commercial. We will no longer be covering you as of this moment. So with all this and breakdown in the end you will drive around destroying your car/truck for about $8.50 an hour.

Uber covers your car while you're actively driving for them.

eta holy shite 19 pages.. did not read thread

Question about YC's competitive response to Uber- weren't y'all about to unleash some new app or something that would improve service? What's the status of that?

No shite, but I am saying the 30 or so original drivers they hired are lazy as shite. Keep an eye during the week on availability, one or two drivers working at best on weekday evenings.
