So now you're just trying to look out for the betterment of Uber drivers?
If everyone would have actually read the first portion of the OP that was the whole premise of this thread.

Just drive for Uber, dickjones. If you can't beat them (you won't unless the gov shuts 'em down)
That is what is happening. That last link was for drivers. They have been made to let drivers opt out of their arbitration clause. UBER should be paying for their gas and maintaince. Just shows that no one checks facts just quick to start spweing harsh comments.

Normally I would let you not read this but it's very important. Esp if you wanna make more money with uber.

"Google says it may partner with Uber on this, and goodness knows Uber has set one of the worst examples when it comes to public safety and accountability."
“So much for being an Uber ‘partner,’” said Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association CEO Alfred LaGasse in an email to VentureBeat. “Kalanick’s comment displays the same lack of consideration for people that Uber has shown when it comes to public safety in its transportation business.”

Not true my friend. I know a guy who has a CC permit and still has to wait. It goes on what the feds say when you are processed to buy gun. He had to fill out proper paperwork and send it off. Now in 6-8 months if he is approved he can show the dealer a card with a pin number on it to override that. Problem is now he can not buy a gun till this process is done. If he does it will reject his request and he will have to start over.

Did you fail your background check, or did they turn you down for another reason, like your car looking shitty?
No if you read I just got approval from Office of Homeland Security for a background check. In fact I can buy a gun and not have to wait 3 days. I also can carry it concealed legally. Don't think background is an issue with me. Car wise no I don't think the would deny a 2010 5 series BMW. I haven't applied for UBER for the pure and simple fact I am not gonna stick myself in a position to be sued. Yes if some idiot in america wanted to can sue and would win. Uber is nothing more than an app. Uber Technologies, Inc., a Delaware corporation, is nothing more than a tech company. They are not a transport company and never will be. Every "partner" they have can be sued by state, city just for operating with out proper permits and business license. I have no problem with UBER other service because they are only given to properly licensed companies.
Again with the pizza thing. Yes you and I can both twist it around to fit any discussion. I was using a hypothetical situation to put it in layman's terms. Nothing more nothing less.

Ok now I have another ? It took me 30 sec to figure this out. If that uber driver turns phone off it can no longer be gps tracked. YC on the other hand thought of this. The driver has no access to power button. It is locked behind lock and key. So I would say YC is looking out for your safety if you ask me. I mean am I wrong in that thought. Also every cab is tracked 24/7.

no, it isnt.
even off peak times, they say 15 minutes. It's still fricking hours.
Really? You can drive through tigerland in non peak hours and see cab sitting in that zone waiting on a call for long periods of time.

You seem upset.
Nope not at all. You just said that I don't know anything so I wouldn't want to give them the wrong info. Wanted to make sure they asked someone who knew.

If you tell someone it's going to be several hours or that we cannot give you an ETA right now then they have nothing to bitch about.
Ahh see more truth comes out. During peak times, that is exactly what is told to them. I've been waiting on someone to slip and say that very sentence. That is the one thing that seems to be left out. They are also told where to wait. Reason is they know where it is the easiest to get a cab to them.

Understand something: every single person replying to you in this mega thread is a CONSUMER. The CONSUMERS are telling you what they like and what they don't like.
Let me give you a personal testimonial: Uber has been in Fort Worth for a little over a year. Where we live, driving and parking our own car isn't a great option. We were devoted taxi passengers and have many, many cabby's cell numbers.
With that said, we haven't been in a cab in that timeframe because of uber. It's like comparing apples to asteroids.
I will NEVER ride in a cab in this (or any uber town) town ever again. Period. Oh, and our cabbies are pleasant, too.
Looking forward to using Uber in BTR this fall.
Another good post here someone who is actually thinking before they type. Question though if your taxi drivers you have been using have been loyal to you. Why are you switching to another service. I cant see why you would switch. Seems like you get picked up in decent time. You know the guy really well and can rely on him.

Here's an idea for you, instead of always saying its going to take 15 minutes when there is no chance in hell that it will actually take 15 minutes, give a realistic time frame! I have learned one thing being in the service world and that's "DO what you say you're going to do!" It's that simple! Instead, YC gives some BS number that they know they can't make and then blames it on the customer that they aren't there waiting when they finally arrive, although YC missed their time frame that THEY SAID THEY WOULD MAKE! Do a better job of estimating when you will actually be there to pick someone up, that is what is so nice about the UBER app and being able to track the car. With technology this is very easy to do. Google Maps factors traffic into your commute time and it is very accurate. Next, you obviously need to factor in the wait time for picking up each customer. If you are seeing that it averages 15 minutes just to get people into your car then that needs to be factored into your ETA. This is really elementary stuff, not something that people should have to tell you. If you tell someone you are going to be there at a certain time and you are 20+ minutes late then you have grossly mismanaged your estimate. This is your fault and your fault alone. The fact that people are told a number and cabs show up 1+ hours late shows just how awful of a job YC does at giving estimates. If you realize that it is a peak time then you must factor all of this in your estimate! I have absolutely no sympathy for you or any other YC companies. My only hope is that the corruption will not win!
I'll give ya credit this is the first post that shows some thought was actually put into it.
You actually understand that just because it says YC on the side, it is not one giant nationwide company.
YC spent thousands of dollars last year upgrading the dispatch computer and terminals in cars. The new terminals even include map on screen with two icons to show pick up and drop off locations.
Like I have said though everyone complaining of waiting for 2-3 hours for a cab had this happen to them at 2am on fri or sat night. Or on gameday when you have 200,000 ppl trying to leave one area during contraflow.

Here is an article regarding the Uber issue in New Orleans.

The article describes people encountering poor service from taxi companies. Kartch calls taxi company advisories about limited availability and unguaranteed timeliness of service "Kafkaesque."
Hmmmmmmm
Do you all even know why UBER keeps running into this problem. If not ask lsu2006 he has all the brains and common sense around here.

If it happens 70% of the time you should let the next person know it will be up to 25-30 minutes instead of 15 minutes, its really not that hard.
Really because we can see the foresee the future.

with such little common sense, intuition and knowledge of how anything and everything works.
Please tell me how YC works. You know how it works and the problems that YC has to deal with. Tell me What a driver has to do to deliver a pizza. Tell me how to sync clay paky lights to one another. Tell me what you need to make them look good at show. Tell me how the red light sensors actually work. I have more common sense and smarts than you think my friend. Problem is I think for myself not with the masses.

Was guessing that myself. Just proves another point. He went along with someone without even knowing what he was talking about. Same thing I said earlier. 21 replies to OP in less than a minute. Just showed no one read the OP fully. Maybe in hindsight they did but couldn't back down. It was too late.
