The US govt hates it because they don't control it and they cannot use it for their own data harvesting efforts. That's the beginning and end of it. It has frick all to do with "security" as it relates to the people.

Simple fix for Americans. Just drop TikTok and switch over to Instagram Reels. Won't change anybody's life and we can all still watch stupid videos.
