No offense, but the ECMWF hasn't been the gold standard this year... in fact it's far from it. We'll see if this actually happens..

My wife and I are thinking about returning to south Louisiana (Baton Rouge or Lafayette).

I have been through a lot of hurricanes over the 25 years I lived down there, but she has not.

I would bet New Orleans proper is less "conservative" than wherever you are now.

I seriously don't mean this as a troll, but at what point do people say frick this and mark south Louisiana as uninhabitable and never move back?

So where should people live? Move to Kansas and tornadoes eat you alive. California? Nope, earthquakes. Alberta is nice until you freeze to death in a blizzard. How about Northern Ohio? Don't their rivers catch on fire? Ok, Texas...whoops severe droughts and flash flooding. Where do you want people to live?

I was wondering the same thing.

In New Orleans, you should be more concerned with getting murdered than yelled at by a Baptist.

doubtful. I live in central denver, we are pretty liberal. But overall the south is pretty conservative.

I doubt I would be murdered, but robbed, you bet. It doesn't matter as I am not moving to NOLA.

And I would get annoyed with my conservative relatives telling me I am going to hell.

I posted this in the flood thread earlier today:

One other note, the models are showing the Atlantic getting active over the next 10 days. At this point, I'm a bit skeptical based on the overall global pattern. I would certainly ignore anyone posting models images showing a hurricane nearing the Gulf over the next 10 days or so. I know everyone is on edge and that is the last thing anyone wants to see.

Not sure you actually know what a conservative is. Do the country a favor and stay up north.

livingston parish.

i realize that I don't need to worry about getting accosted by religious wackos in new orleans. But the general vibe in the south is a lot more conservative than what I want. I like my legal weed and I like not hearing about religion.

I go to new orleans for a month every year to visit family, and I love new orleans. THe inlaws live in the marigny, and i love the bars, the food, the music. But the reality is that I wouldn't spend all my time there.

I cringe when i interact with the family or family friends. or seeing the abortion billboards when I drive through central LA. I also don't like hearing the racial epithet.
