Was yesterday.
Video of fire

The Station nightclub fire occurred on Thursday, February 20, 2003, in West Warwick, Rhode Island, killing 100 people and injuring 230. The fire was caused by pyrotechnics set off by the tour manager of the evening's headlining band Great White, which ignited plastic foam used as sound insulation in the walls and ceilings surrounding the stage. The blaze reached flashover within one minute, causing all combustible materials to burn. Intense black smoke engulfed the club in 5½ minutes. Video footage of the fire shows its ignition, rapid growth, the billowing smoke that quickly made escape impossible, and blocked egress that further hindered evacuation.[1]The toxic smoke, heat, and the resulting human crush toward the main exit killed 100;

It was a disturbing event to me. So many died unnecessarily. Bad fire codes, exits weren't used properly, etc
I still find myself inside bars, restaurants, glancing at alternate exits, just in case.

Yeah. Always a awful reminder each year of how so many suffered. The pile up at the door is sad.

After watching that video and going to fire school, I always look for the exits when I go to a live music place like that.

They have a place downtown BR called City Bar. If there is a fire in that place, it's going to be like this.

Me too but for different reasons; security more than fire but since this fire I usually think of both....security first.

Really one of the scariest videos on YouTube. Just terrifying.

This should be SOP anytime you're in a crowded place. Always know where the exit pointS are.

The cameraman’s reflexes are incredible. As soon as the flames start, he nopes out of there. Another few seconds and he would’ve been trapped like everyone else

There are many places that would be just like this. Some places have the band near the entrance, too.
It's instinct to try to evacuate in the way you know best or the way you entered: the front door. But most everyone went that way, too, hence most of the deaths were by the front door.
More could have survived if many had escaped either out the kitchen or actually went towards the fire and exit stage right

The exit labeled Platform Exit Door could have saved dozens of lives. Unfortunately, none of the audience could see it because it was blocked by speakers. I think the only people who used that escape were the surviving band members who had entered through there.

It's natural to egress by the same route you came in. Force your brain to work harder and look for the other exits. Ingrain it into your children's minds as well.

Yea this place has one big entrance/exit in the front. Most of the people are upstairs and the only way up there is a staircase in the very rear, with no rear visible exit.

If a fire starts downstairs, the crowd will be jammed in.

2nd floor of city bar...absolutely but 1st floor is wide open

2nd floor has 1 interior stairway leading down and 1 exterior "fire escape"...both in the rear of the building. It would be a massive logjam

That's what amazes me too. As soon as the flames start he's out of there.

I told the gf when we were up there if a fire breaks out, I'm going over the balcony and you jump and I'll catch you and we are out of there

1st floor is wide open depending on where the fire is.

A fire inspector would have a heart attack in that place

Imagine if the last thing you ever did was watch Great White in concert.

at the end of the video they reveal that the TV station that the cameraman worked for was successfully sued because the cameraman was blocking the exit.
