My uncle was in the Air Corps, it was the Japs.

Do they teach history in school any more?

Ha. Well, just my personal preference. In my current situation, I’d rather keep doing what I am now.

Hell, even going to the bigs one day is gonna kill me.

That is the ideal situation.

As a baby I lived on Beale AFB as my Pop was in the SR-71 program.

I was born in Yuba City, and lived in Wheatland until I was 10. Family moved to Arkansas in 1980.

My dad was a really good mechanic, and worked on some nice cars. One of the Blackbird pilots drove a DeTomaso Pantera, which runs a Ford 351 Cleveland engine, my dad is a Ford guy, so got to know the pilot pretty well.

The thing I remember the most is the pilot saying they don’t know how fast the Blackbird will go, and can’t let anyone try to find out. Said the plane would just continue to increase speed until it came apart.

He said they did make sure it was always known that it was the fastest out there. Any time the Russians got close in speed, they’d let someone kick it up another notch.

One if the coolest things I’ve read about the SR-71, is that they would use it to create a sonic boom when commie leaders were making a speech to the masses. Can you imagine that shite? Big bad enemy making a speech to the commie faithful, and then a thunderclap from the sky. ‘Merica
