This is all gonna be in cliff notes fashion with a link at the end.

A wichita 5y/o, Lucas Hernandez is reported missing by his stepmom nearly a day after he was last seen in mid January.

Police search local parks at length and find nothing.

Stepmom, Emily Glass, is arrested for child endangerment (driving her child around while high) and held in custody for months while investigation is being conducted. Eventually released due to lack of evidence tying her to Lucas.

A few months pass with little to no news of the disappearance.

Flash forward to 2 weeks ago.

Lucas' father, Jonathan, hired PI from the east coast.

With in 16 hours of getting to wichita PI finds the boys body nearly 20 minutes outside of Wichita under a small bridge on a quiet road near Newton,Kansas. PI claims his "intuition" led him to the spot.

Emily Glass is arrested again for hindering the police investigation but is released shortly thereafter

Last night: Jonathan Hernandez calls police to report Emily Glass has been shot, she is found dead at the scene.

Just a very strange and crazy story all the way around.

Here's a link where the PI mentions Glass leading him to Lucas.

Second link says it was day 2 in Wichita and 5 hours after they found the body. OP says 16 hours and 20 minutes.

OP says within 16 hours and the body was 20 minutes from where he was reported missing

If you read the account of the pi he worked "for about 11 hours" on the case

Tragic but I think your post is misleading. I didnt see anywhere that said the PI found the body based on his intuition. The PI found him because the stepmother led him to the body.

Here’s what likely happened: stepmom Emily does something stupid and kills the kid or he died due to her negligence. Dad hired PI, stepmom confesses, it takes a few hours to find the body because the stepmom was high as hell when she stuffed the body months earlier and Dad ends up shooting stepmom out of anger. PI’s are shady as heck so stepmom may have been suicided

The day they found the body the pi was on one of the local news stations saying he found it on intuition and was being super shady. I found the second article after my initial post.

My fault for not editing

Yeah the city itself is nice but it goes from nice to deliverance quick once you leave city limits

This isn’t true. Have you ever actually spent much time outside of Wichita with the people there? Mostly farmer types or people that commute in to work in the city. Get way out and sure, there are some hillbillies. Nothing different than anywhere else though.

Upvoted for the great summarization, but that was quite a bummer to read.

PI probably didn't want to give away any trade secrets/methods that would help his competition.

Spent a lot of time in Augusta and el Dorado and have driven around quite a bit. Don't have glowing impressions of the first two. People were nice but it was still kinda off

Actually, he was probably being vague to avoid harming the investigation/prosecution of the stepmom.
