It was named after the Frenchman, not Christianity. Hence the French pronunciation.

In reading my reply I noticed that we pronounce Pass Christian the same way you would pronounce the first part of Christianity. Not sure if this is relevant, but interesting word play either way.
No pronunciation in French emphasizes the "an" nor says it like "anne". This a typical thing locals do to words everywhere.
Tchoutacabouffa is pronounced Choo-tuh-cuh-bluff in that same part of the world.

Ask yourself why it's "Say-nt Gay-bree-ul" for St. Gabriel and "San-a-mahn" for St. Amant.
quote:
Well St Gabriel is completely normal but St Amant certainly isn’t.
You should have seen the laughs I got for pronouncing it as "Say-nt Ah-mahnt". I was told it was "San-a-mahn" perhaps with very, very light touch on a "t" sound.

"Nicholas Christian Ladner (1727-1800) moved from Mobile to Cat Island in 1745 where he raised cattle. In 1758 he married Marianne Paquet (1742-1811) from New Orleans and they produced eleven children. One daughter married a Spanish soldier, Juan Cuevas (1762-1849).
Well those 2 frickers were productive.......at fricking.
