I thought the popularity of the Christmas tree was brought about by Prince Andrew during Queen Victoria’s reign. He brought the custom with him from Germany:

Christmas as it is celebrated today isn’t pagan. Just because someone is using a Christmas tree or lights doesn’t mean it’s pagan. It’s pagan if you’re doing it for pagan reasons. The vast majority of people are not.

One could also make the argument Christmas would never have become such a widely spread holiday if it not for Christianity in the first place. But most people that celebrate it today aren’t doing it for religious reasons anymore either. It’s become a secular holiday for a lot of people.

So how many people have been converted to seek and know Jesus by buying Jr. an XBOX 360?

I’m talking about the beginnings of the conversions in Europe hundreds of years ago dumbass. Today Christmas isn’t religious anymore for a lot of people

I am a Jesus follower not an atheist.

Everything is either good or evil. What is good about lying to children about Santa? What is good about celebrating Jesus’s “fake birthday” on a wrong day that coincides with paganism and saturnalia.

Keep telling children a “white lie” about Santa and his magical abilities.

Even satanic worshipers laugh at the notion of lying about Santa while at the same time teaching them about Jesus.

If this revelation hits you hard maybe it’s your soul telling you to seek the truth.

I celebrated Xmas for 37 years until my eyes were opened. Now I use the money I would have spent on gifts donating it to people and organizations that need it.

The Church admitted Jesus most likely wasn’t born on Dec 25. But if you’re converting people does it not make sense to essentially replace a holiday they already celebrate with one of their own? It would make the transition easier

I must have missed that part in the Bible! I do, however, remember something about the blind leading the blind, doing things in Jesus' name though he never knew you, heaping up treasures on earth for yourself, and people with itching ears listening to fables and doctrines of man rather than scripture.

Too bad you never grew up.

This is a 19 year old liberal arts major shite take. A 37 year old edgelord is a bad look.

Do you have kids? Just let people have the magic and joy and pretend for a bit. It doesn’t hurt, at all. And if you just let yourself get lost in the spirit it’s a ton of fun.

It’s harmless escapism.

Can you please point out where in the Bible it talks about Jesus being born on Dec 25.

No. No one can do this for you. Based on context clues from the Bible, it's more likely that He was born in September or October. Here's a pretty good breakdown of how one would come to that conclusion.

None of that makes Christmas pagan. You can pretend it is all you want, and you'll always be wrong.

If you wear a wedding ring, then you're a hypocrite with that hill you're choosing to die on.

There is nothing inherently sinful about putting up Christmas decorations. They aren't idolatrous in any way, and you'll not find biblical evidence to support your stated position here.

Missed what part in the Bible? I’m speaking about the ORIGINS of Christmas as a Christian holiday. So literally hundreds of years ago. I’m NOT talking about what it is now. I don’t really like what it has become now either.

But December 25 was chosen for a reason. Because if you’re trying to convert people from another belief system (paganism) it makes sense to replace it with your beliefs. So instead of celebrating their pagan holiday during that time, they will celebrate the Christian holiday.

I’m not the original author of this but I agree with its sentiments.

That's the part I don't remember being in the Bible. I don't recall Jesus telling his disciples to trick Pagans or to make it an easy transition for them to baby step away from their sin, call it Jesus' birthday so that they don't have to feel bad about it. I'm sure Jesus loves having pagan traditions used to celebrate his birth, which isn't really his birthday.

Last time I checked, the God of the Bible was a jealous God and didn't want his people worshipping him the way heathens worshiped their gods.

Not a Jehovah’s Witness CougarBait. I just read the Bible. You should check it out.

Nice way to attack the messenger and not the message.
