I love BMWs for what I consider they do (did) exceptionally well, like I assume your father did. Modern vehicles (including BMW) have lost me, so I can't name a modern chassis number or even imagine myself in a specific model.
I was replying to the last person in the "bimmer" portion of the thread.

Well, if it's any consolation you can still find older ones in great shape.
My dad just bought a '96 750iL with only 147,000 miles for $2500. Has the V12 that's two of the i6s put together. And it's in near perfect shape.
They are that cheap because the reported gas mileage is 20mpg/15mpg.

I was fully expecting to come in here and shite on this car, but it's actually pretty cool. Good on Kia

bullshite.
We've owned 3 BMW's, and my initials are actually BMW because my dad liked them so much. Saying "beamer" in casual conversation is perfectly acceptable. Unless you're an elitist prick.
Heres the deal, when someone uses car slang it is an attempt to show they are part of the cognoscenti, that they know and understand cars. When you use it incorrectly it simply is showing you want to belong or think you belong but you aren't quite there yet. A bimmer has always been a car, a beamer has always been a motorcycle if you want to fit in with the 1980's San Fernando Valley girls feel free to continue to use Beamer.
If you find using the correct term stilted just use BMW that way nobody in the conversation will think you are an elitist prick or a moron.

While the W204 has a decent chassis you need to widen your horizons if you desire a true drivers car.
Well, mine has the sport and AMG package but I was comparing it to other sedans not true sports cars.

One word....Kia
They are putting out some quality vehicles since around 2012 and continue to improve their products. They could legitimately make a run at Toyota somewhere down the road.

Let's slow the roll just a little bit here.

I would drive it, but I wouldn't buy it new. $40K, could probably get a 2yr old model later for $20K used.
I think KIA's full warranty is only for the original owner?

And the chances of that happening? Well, as former BMW M engineering veep Albert Biermann is now Hyundai/Kia’s head of high performance vehicle development, you’d be foolish to bet against it, especially given the Korean automaker’s lavish R&D spending and the dizzying speed with which it brings new vehicles to market.
That actually explains a lot

Read that one last week, could have sworn it had been posted.
I am interested in seeing what Kia does over the next few years, Japan only made a half-hearted effort to match the Euro dynamics with Lexus/Infiniti/Acura.

No doubt.
My company car is a WRX and while not high on the snob scale, that thing is a blast to drive esp on windy roads.
I had narrowed it down to a BMW, G80, and the WRX......the kid in me won.

Looks great. Wouldn't buy a Kia.

If KIA ever puts the Telluride into production I would absolutely take Dorothy Mantooth out for a steak dinner in it and never call her again

Could you not just debadge the car and replace them with these?

While I agree, Lexus has 20years of data to back up the quality and reputation. Kia/ Hyundai have a fraction of that experience.
