The new downtown Baton Rouge library is nearing completion after massive delays

All of that time wasted on addressing structural failures and ensuring the building doesn't immediately collapse wasted......on a pretty ugly building.
On the bright side - it's much more attractive that this adjacent brutalist structure that looks like it came straight from a 1980's version of Texas A&M's campus.
Anyone know if the glass facade on the new library is riot-proof?

The East Baton Rouge Parish Library shared photos to social media on Wednesday giving the public a "first look" at the nearly completed River Center Library. Its opening has been stalled not once, not twice, but three times.
The $19 million project was originally slated for completion in 2018, but its opening was halted for nearly a year after an alleged design flaw caused support beams on the building’s cantilever to fail.
A 2019 cyberattack that crippled statewide agencies further delayed the library's debut. Officials then slated its new opening date to March 2020.
Then, the coronavirus pandemic hit—forcing thousands of businesses to close their doors for public health safety.

Will refreshments be served at the ribbon cutting? Asking for Gravy.

At least it won’t be looted.

Just in time for the book burnings.

This is what happens when you combine a shite load of cash, a second rate architect unconstrained by practicality, a valuable piece of real estate, and a reduced purpose in society.

Did the Hard Rock Cafe contractors build that?

Who still uses a library?
I do, but to your point, investing that much money into a big, nice, new library in 2020 is pretty fricking stupid.

Looks a lot like the new one they just built here in Wichita

It's ok. They have insurance.

It’s like the architect sat down and tried to think of a way to fit as many glass windows as possible.
What breaks them first, protestors or a hurricane?

Anyone that pushed for that Colossal waste of money should be should be Key Hauled up and down the Mississippi.
Oh well at the least the jurors will have nice new digs to hang around in. Gonna need a hell of a lot more jurors after tort reform passes...

Might want to check your spelling, and probably location on this punishment technique.
(More effective in barnacle rich environments.)
