I've been seeing the 4 series around...what is the different about those? They do look fine.

The issue is with electronic steering...which I assume they'll get better with. The F10 was the first 5 with it. The hydraulic steering in the models before that were glorious.

After 40k miles they turn in to turds, with Mercedez being the only brand that consistently sucks more regarding persistent and expensive fixes.

I know a few BMW dealership techs. They consider any BMW after about 2002 to be garbage. BMW tends to over-complicate things leading to unnecessary failures.
Leasing a new one and getting the full warranty for the life of the lease is the only way to go.
A BMW out of warranty is a money pit.

I love this argument...no shite tighter toleranced vehicles built to perform at a high level consume parts. I'd take maintaining, and appreciating, a fine German auto over driving a numb POS Japanese car every single day...and I do. More expensive cars cost more to maintain...no shite.

Those aren't mechanics. The only reason they ever touch my car is if there are recalls.
My indy is damn good. If something breaks or leaks or fails I pay to fix it right. Because, the car is worth it and I want to drive it for hundreds of thousands of miles.

And according to a knowledgeable Catholic who converted to Protestantism (engineer educated in the MBenz group, defected to BMW-- ), Audi is still garbage and needs more work, and is more complicated to repair.

Meh. I haven't really liked anything BMW has made in 10 years. I have started to associate the twin kidney grill with cars that fall apart after a few years.
