$225K isn't much of a budget if maint. & fuel costs are of no concern. I'm not a pilot, so I'd go the fractional ownership route with that type of budget.

Not sure if serious. $225k is plenty for a good airplane.

Mooney Acclaim. Cruise at 200kts with a low fuel burn. I've seen some '07-'09s for under $300k.

Beaver or newer supercub with floats.

A used Cirrus SR22t. It looks awesome, reasonably fast, and has a gawd damn parachute

Nice used piper Cherokee 6, or a decent mooney. Hell with that budget could get a decent used twin engine and fly the Caribbean.
Someone said beaver, good choice there. An albatross would be nice too.
Nevermind, a 1951 albatross is still $350,000

You saw the chief engineer and another engineer died in a test flight last week?

That albatross is awesome. I'd love to own that thing. It's great inside, And would be sweet to run down to the islands in.

My boss has a Cirrus SR22 something or other. I think he paid around $450K-550K. He took delivery in Tennessee and flew it back to either San Carlos or Palo Alto over a couple of days. It looks like genuine Doctor Killer to me.
Beech Bonanza has that category locked up.

What's the smallest plane you can get with a bathroom for the kids?
And how much flight time can you buy from Netjets for $225k?

Low time Cirrus SR 22 GTS

Man, that's a good looking Albatross. Maintenance and fuel for that beast would eat you alive, though.
Realistically, a Cessna piston twin.

At my age and experience level I would find a Cessna 182 Skylane with a solid airframe, but high time engine, then hang on a new engine and prop, new paint, full Garmin "glass" avionics. It is a comfortable plane, easy for a old guy to climb in and out of, no forgetting to drop the landing gear, has a good range, adequate cruise speed, but low stall speed, and will haul a pretty good load. I liken it to the F-150 pickup of the sky.
