I’m 64. My Dad died at 70, grandfathers all died mid 70’s. I’m looking at life like I have 10 years left. Time to spend the kids inheritance

Never thought about it much until my two best friends passed, oddly both had strokes and both were college athletes. One actually became a Healthcare professional and looked like picture of health

Kinda hit me at my 50th High School Reunion in '23. I knew it was coming in the next 20 yrs but had kinda compartmentalized it.

Had a Senior class of about 400+, was a big school West of Atlanta.

Had a Memorial lit candle table set up for classmates who'd passed away, at least 50-60 or so lit candles on the table.

I thought damn... SMH

'A few light taps upon the pane made him turn to the window. It had begun to snow again. He watched sleepily the flakes, silver and dark, falling obliquely against the lamplight. The time had come for him to set out on his journey westward. Yes, the newspapers were right: snow was general all over Ireland. It was falling on every part of the dark central plain, on the treeless hills, falling softly upon the Bog of Allen and, farther westward, softly falling into the dark mutinous Shannon waves. It was falling, too, upon every part of the lonely churchyard on the hill where Michael Furey lay buried. It lay thickly drifted on the crooked crosses and headstones, on the spears of the little gate, on the barren thorns. His soul swooned slowly as he heard the snow falling faintly through the universe and faintly falling, like the descent of their last end, upon all the living and the dead.'

After my father passed in 2016 (my mom died in 2004) my brother said to me that we were now the oldest generation in our family and that our time was very finite. That stuck with me, and at 58 now, I frequently think about that.

My stepdad died at 39... passing that milestone in my own life was sobering. My FIL passed at 57, hubby is about 10yrs shy if that- honestly that scares me even more.

Understanding the irreversible march of time came young with repeated listening to a favorite song of mine, Leaves that are Green.

It starts off ... I was twenty one years when I wrote this song, I'm twenty two now but I won't be for long, time hurries on and the leaves that are green, turn to brown....

After my brother passed at age 55.
Then my dad passed a year later.
Then my mom passed two years later.
I probably have 25-30 years left. I think how fast the last 25 years have flown by and then I think how the next 25 years will fly by even faster than that.
But, this life is not the end. I hold on to the promise that if I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, and believe that he rose again on the third day, then I will be saved.

43 now and about once a week I’ll have a moment of fear / dread / anxiety about it.

Like today I was scrolling Facebook and noticed all my friends are gray or bald and our kids are the age we were when we were having our best lives

When my best friend from high school died after a brief illness. I always thought we’d become elders together. Had trouble sleeping through the night for months afterwards.

I guess the ole Doc is still on the take on prescriptions even though it is now available as a generic. Same with Flomax.

Take both together have great sex and call a doctor if you have an erection that lasts more than four hours. An old joke is that if I have an erection that lasts for more than 4 hours, I am calling every girl I know to come take a stab from it.

Twenty years now
Where'd they go
Twenty years
I don't know
I sit and I wonder sometimes
Where they've gone
