So she's angry and "calls out" the criminals (actual "protests" don't encompass destroying other people's property) today once the fire burns out of control while poking the fire the other 364 days to make sure it doesn't go out? Give me a fricking break. Her and her ilk sow the seeds for this shite on a daily basis then act "aghast" when it actually blows up in their town?

Look, it is a shame the guy is dead. I think any rational person who saw that video would agree that it was utterly ridiculous for the cop to kneel on the guy's neck for that long AFTER he was handcuffed. Police officers have tough jobs. But at some point their has to be discretion as to what level of force is necessary. Barring unforeseen evidence, if the cop is punished criminally I don't think you'll have a lot of objection (white, black, whatever).

But people like the mayor stir the pot of racial discontent all the time. At a time where, if you are willing to look outside the narrative the media desperately wants to project, race relations in this country are better than at any point in this country's history. And if you don't think that is the case, then you clearly don't have an understanding of history. There are many, many black business owners today. There are large cities, and small cities, all throughout America with black government leaders from top to bottom. Universities not only happily welcome black students, they make great efforts to attract them to their schools. It's not uncommon to see white and black children happily playing together with no sense of concern from parents or the community (Hell, my child's closet neighborhood friend is black and they happily play every day). None of that was even fathomable 50, 60 years ago.

Unfortunately, we have a significant and VOCAL group of people in our country (of ALL races), coupled with a disingenuous media happy to spread distorted messages, who perpetually want to be "victims". Being a "victim" is their identity. They advocate for equality, but don't actually want it. Because that would end their identity as a "victim". So forgive me if the mayor's words ring hollow now that the fire is burning out of control. Perhaps if she and others like her wouldn't stoke the flames on a daily basis we wouldn't get to that point.
