Seriously? It's the end of July on Saturday, during the summer.. In Baton Rouge. There are a lot of people getting their last second vacation in.. Or doing other things. It's not really a prime time weekend for shoppings.

And even with whatever bullshite scenario you are describing the mall continues to be busy

You can check out Cortana Mall on deadmalls.com. That place is on life support. Sad. When I was a teenager in the 80’s that place was the social epicenter of BR. You drive by there now and it looks largely abandoned.

So true and so sad.

I would love to spend a Saturday evening at Cortana mall. Eating a corn dog or a deli plate at Piccadilly. Try my hand at Spaceport or see star wars at the cinema. I hate losing my childhood.

The last time I saw a movie at Cortana, I was about 11. The floor was so sticky, one of my tennis shoes came off when I was walking.

Ditto. When I was in high school in the late 80s, we would often go to Bon Marchè instead of Cortana. My god, the 70s vibe was prevalent right up to the end (when some state offices began moving in around back where the McDonald’s was). Brown and rust-orange tiles on the floor, brown and tan brick arched entrances to the stores. And of course...2010.

Northpark was amazing when it opened. But now it is just preview of Mall of LA's future. Just like Metrocenter is a vision of Cortana's future.

Metro is wayyyy ahead of Cortana. Metrocenter has been downright dangerous for well over 20 years. I really liked north park a lot. Haven’t been there in probably 15 years though.

We went to Bon Marche over Cortana in the 80s too. I used to love that baseball card shop across from the McDonald's when I was a kid.

We just went for Montgomery Ward into the early 90s. If I was good we’d go get caramel corn on the left right before you got to McDonalds.

I was in 8th grade when Mall of LA opened. Would meet up with my girlfriend and we would make out in the Sears dressing room. Great memories. Time to get on Facebook to see what’s she’s been up to

Went to the Dillard’s outlet at Cortana last week and stocked up on dress pants and shirts. Sure it’s a shithole but I got some great deals and there are many white folks shopping there, in case you thought it was just for NBR residents. And I tak my pre-teen daughter to the Mall of LA every other week and it’s always packed. Not sure what the hell people are talking about when they say it’s on the decline. Plus they are building a Main Event on the Boulevard which means somebody thinks it’s viable enough to invest in it. Really, the countless “BR sucks” threads are tiresome and stupid.

Cortana has been pretty bad for awhile too. Maybe 10 years. I wouldn't go there at night at least.

There's really no reason to go anyway. 80% of the stores have been closed for years

bullshite scenario? I was responding to the OP. According to him, the only people there were people hanging out in the middle of the mall.. Said that the few people who were there, there were some weirdos, etc.

I was saying, the reason there were likely less people there than on a normal weekend is because it's Summer in Baton Rouge. School is out, including LSU, so with people going back home, people on vacation this time of year, etc things are a little different this time of year.

However, school will be starting soon so I would imagine there will soon be more people shopping.. But it seems like some people have said they passed by and it was packed so this guy might either be trolling or just went right when the mall opened.

As I mentioned, I go there maybe every 3 or 4 months for one thing or another.. And it is generally busy.

I don't really understand the hate. It's one thing to not like to go to malls in general. In fact, I don't really like going to malls. When I go, it's to get something specific.. So I know where it's at, go get it, and leave. The majority of the time I go, it's to pick up Izzo's.. But my whole point is that it isn't bad at all. People on here act like it's some hell hole that is a dreadful place to go..
