Some of them left one federal job to take a remote one based several states away, such as for the agency headquarters office in DC. Gonna suck if they have to “return” to an office they’ve never worked in and is in another region of the country.

"It is being reported" is Twitterspeak for completely making shite up.

Except for the fact Trump made mention of it during a press conference and insinuated it will make it easier to fire many of them bc many of their positions say they aren’t allowed to have a 2nd job.

Ok champ. You say I’m wrong and then agree that they submit a form. The government requires an outside employment form to be filled out for any other employment.

You stated: "I doubt they filled out the paperwork and reported it to the fed which is required."

I've seen hundreds of those forms completed. It was not a big deal at all. Most did it, why wouldn't they, it's just rubber stamped (unless a potential conflict of interest).

How is this any different than any other employee making passive income?

I've heard govt. workers called a lot of things....but never "go getters". When there are stories after stories about citizens trying to call & speak to a worker at home, there is no answer for hrs at a time. Two of the biggest offenders are workers at the Social Security Office & the IRS.. Giving these long time govt. employees the benefit of the doubt as to performing legit workhours reminds me of the movie Dumb & Dumber.

I have found nurse practitioners working a 2nd job from the office - while on the clock at the first job. There are some crappy, fraudulent people out there.

just like any other employee and military member, federal employees can have two jobs. Work you 8 hours, then work another job. Happens all the time.

That is okay as long as you are not double dipping and working or managing both at the same time.

Anyone remember the IT workers LSU hired that kept their residence and current jobs in Illinois and worked full time for LSU, and did most of the job as remote work.

FLTech says Mika Joy is the authority on government WFH/RTO.

What an idiot.

Some of you are truly sad people

The difference between the rest of us who work 2 jobs and the government employees who work from home is that we work one job and then go to the next one. We don't get paid for job #1 when we are at job #2

They all had a sweet passive income gig

Then they weren't working two jobs. That income would be active.

But yeah, I'm glad that twitter person sourced this so well.

If that is the case, it should be easy to prove, right?

but I've also see realtors

In this case yes.

Did you show a house, sell a house...sign paperwork during what would be your normal government job hours.

I don't know any successful realtors that can only work after hours and on Saturdays.

Hopefully someone can look into this.

Story I've said on ot before: Called the irs and the lady was obviously running a daycare. Took my name and question and just laid down the phone for at least 15-20 minutes. I heard her screaming at children (at least 10) during this time. She then came back and told me "no". she did all this with just my first and last name.

Working 2 jobs does not jive with the stereotype of government workers being lazy fricks.

They are stealing time from one job to earn money at the other. It's not the same as someone who works two jobs on back-to-back shifts.

What they're doing is illegal.

I haven’t lived in America for a while, but tbh i dont see how it’s possible for most people in the US to survive in 2025 without at least two jobs.. or in the case of a married couple, 3 or 4 jobs.. just doesn’t seem possible in most of the country .

Would be easy to figure out how the income was earned. Was it an 8-5 job with the govt was paying them for 8-5 work? All of would be on W-2s to back check 2nd employment

why wouldn't they,

Because they’re working a second job during fed business hours while at home. They’re not submitting a form for that. I’m sure some did it the correct way but most did not. Now they become fireable.

What percentage of dual-employed govt. workers actually do this though?
