a) deny it's happening
Nobody is denying the climate is dynamic and changing. What is remarkable is that during human ascendance, the climate has been highly stable, relatively speaking.

b) think the only solution is to do nothing then you will have zero say in what the policy actually is.
Unless the majority thinks that doing nothing is the least of a number of evils. None of the alarmists' solutions are particularly palpable to the masses. Which is why they have to sell this stuff in a "OMG WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE" fashion. It isn't working, because their models and projections have all been wrong. They use fudged data and flawed models in lieu of actual science.

Unfortunately if we frick up the planet enough, I don't know if we'll evolve quickly enough to save ourselves.
Do you REALLY, TRULY believe that? That humans may not evolve fast enough to adapt to a hotter climate?
Fish species, some mammal, insects, bacteria...ok. We'll lose alot of species (and gain new ones). But humans? I don't think you really believe that.

No, not really. In fact their predictions are all basically coming true. Did you know that there is a cruise ship that travels the northwest passage now?

I'm optimistic enough to think that we'll be a Type I Civilization before this becomes a major issue, so I think we'll be ok. If however our technology doesn't advance as quickly as I hope, then this could be an issue.

I wish I could downvote you into oblivion.
You want to bring "a good general idea of the temperatures" into this when people are bitching about a 1.5 degree change in the last 100 years?
GTFO.
Aren't those temperatures based on ice anyway? Haven't pollen records refuted some of that?
How the frick do you explain 2 major droughts in a 500 year period in the DARK AGES?!?! Cycles change all the time, and there are microcycles within those cycles.
The fact that some of our kind are so dense to believe that we can have this major impact on this planet just floors me. We are constantly trying to control this planet, and time and time again, it shows that it cannot be controlled and rights itself.

No, not really. Most of the alarmism has been fairly consistently overstated.

Maybe that's a good thing.
What are the ideal temperature and CO2 concentrations for this planet?

Here is a question for OMLandshark and TigerRam:
What are you two going to say if the climate makes a complete 180 and the temperature proceeds to drop by a degree or so in the next 100 years? What evidence is there to suggest it won't?

I will gladly eat my crow. If the trend of the last 20 years continues, and the surface temperature of Earth continues to warm exponentially, will you eat yours?
Posted on 9/22/16 at 11:33 am to LSUTigersVCURams
You're so full of crap. You know you would still claim it was caused by man.
And what crow would I have to eat? Have I denied that the climate is changing? No. I've downplayed the human aspect of it...moatly because the humans pushing the human aspect of it want to downplay anything that doesn't fit their agenda.

quote:Well, the warmists are arguing this indirectly, since their claim is the climate would be static if not for humans.
Nobody is denying the climate is dynamic and changing.

quote:Nope. The IPCC models have been very poor over the 3, 5, 10 year time horizons. And that's the thing about models, the further out they run, the LESS accurate they will be. If you aren't accurate over 3 years, there can be no expectation you will have accuracy over 50-100 years.

Yeah, you're clearly a genius who knows more than 97% of the scientists on the planet. Let me guess: this is all one massive conspiracy?

The fact that some of our kind are so dense to believe that we can have this major impact on this planet just floors me.
The fact that you are narcissistic enough to believe we can trash the planet with no negative consequences floors me as well.

Never said that. You can't read, and that is DEFINITELY no conspiracy.
There is a difference between a conspiracy and an agenda. There are many conspiracy theories about JFK's death, 9/11, Area 51, etc. What liberals want to do is no conspiracy. It's an agenda. They want to pass everything that affects the environment off as someone else's fault. They want to use forest fires to point to climate change, while neglecting to point to mismanagement. They want to point to farmers and their cattle as enormous sources of harmful pollutants while ignoring the heat islands they live in that have been documented to change the environment.
The fact that you are narcissistic enough to believe we can trash the planet with no negative consequences floors me as well.
Where's your proof? I have, in fact, said nothing of the sort.
