Voluntary and taxes can't go together.

Statistically your chances of jackpot don't change much if you have one ticket or ten.
They would be 10x better... but still absolutely terrible.
As for the OP, the lottery isn't a tax. There is no penalty for not playing, no one is forced to.

Meh whats 10 bucks.
I blow that on lunch every day.
Good luck trying to retire one day. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that I spend 10 bucks a day on lunch.

Don't be such an insufferable twat. You know what he meant.
Again...even if someone gets welfare or foodstamps..does that mean they are not allowed to spend ANY money on entertainment?
It's $2. $2 to buy a few moments of "what if I actually won". I just don't see the big deal.
And if they won...great....one less person that is on government assistance now. Shouldn't that be a good thing?

Imo, yes.
Their lives should be made as miserable as possible to encourage getting off welfare
Assuming they dont have a LEGITIMATE disability or other reason to need assistance

If I can win 100 million in cash with a $2 investment no matter the odds, why wouldn't I at least try it. can't win it if you don't play it
Now blowing like $100 a week, that's different

You COULD win without spending the $2. You could find the winning ticket in the street. The odds of that happening are probably worse than getting hit by 2 comets simultaneously.

It is VOLUNTARY..
But poor people play it the most.

If you get any govt financial assistance, you should not be allowed to buy lottery tickets.
But if a poor person wins and takes the $443,300,000 cash option, they'll pay $175,546,800 in federal taxes plus another $26,598,000 to the State if in Louisiana. Then they'll get to brow beat you for being a poor leach on society.
I've always found big lottery jackpots fascinating, not just what I'd do with the winnings, but how badly it has fricked up dumb winners' lives, especially Jack Whittaker. I could read those stories all day.

I'm a bigger fan of people who pretend they really only spend $2 at the lotto.
It's $3 with the power play. But yeah, I only buy one line. All I need is a chance.

So he is a leech?
He is 31 with the mind of an 11 year old. He can barely talk and read. He will never be able to drive or live on his own or be a normal adult. He's not a leech. Because of his mental disability...the best he can ever do job wise....is bringing in grocery carts/stocking shelves at a grocery store part time making min wage. He could just stay home all day and play video games...but he works to give him something to do and to help bring in extra money for my family.

You mean the streak of stupid decisions continues?
I'm SHOCKED!
Why don't you start a campaign telling them not to. explain the odds. See how THEY like YOU yelling THEM what to do with THEIR money.

As of 8:15 am according to Aeon Hewitt @ the age of 65 I will be able to pull 7k a month out for the next 20 years.
I think I will be just fine.

It was a tongue in cheek joke. Either lighten up or stop putting so much personal information on the internet...

How entertaining can the fricking lottery be? Do you simply stare are those tickets for hours? Read a book.

Do you take the mortgage interest deduction on your taxes, or do you not count stuff that you use?
