The whole system is out of whack. I know a family member who went to see a new GP. Saw the new Doc about 2 times. The Dr. put a note in the pts "permanent chart" about bi polar episodes. not a diagnosis mind you but just a random note. didn't even know the patient.
Now insurance gets a looksee at the chart and says "Whoa! we can't offer any insurance to you, you're a head case" and so on and so forth. absolutely no basis whatsoever.

I’m sure he had no basis to note that wink wink

Do these trans people take some kind of drug that the side effect is killing people?

Throwing out the most extreme example of system abuse is disingenuous.
Kind of like using rape and incest to justify abortion when 95% use it for convenience and as a form of birth control.
I'm glad you can finally recognize how asinine it is to use extremes as a justification for painting with a broad brush.

I want for this country to start taking mental health seriously. I've been calling for that for years on here.
But nobody cares to do that. So now we have to do something.

We spend more on the interest to our debt than we do on our military.

So...when are we going to get serious about doing mental health evaluations for gun ownership?
I agree we have mental health problems in this country and that is what needs to be addressed.
Adding restrictions to gun ownership is not the solution. Why should my rights be changed because some crazy person used a firearm?
The only solution is to make it easier to put people with these delusions in a mental hospital so they can receive the help they need. THEY ARE THE PROBLEM. Simply making it harder for everyone else to own a firearm solves nothing. They are the problem, they might have used a firearm in their criminal act but if that had not been available they could have used a car, built a bomb or many other ways to hurt innocent people.
These people are crazy and need to be Institutionalized.

The only silver lining I can see here is that maybe some future school shooter out there will give pause and think "if I do this they might think I'm a crazy tranny loon in the media" and put his gun back in the safe

Apply to voting and free speech exercise first. It would destroy the Democrat party but will save lives overall.

We already subverted the 2nd Amendment with forbidding felons from owning guns.
So that makes it ok to further erode it? Are you so ignorant as to not be aware that several lawsuits are challenging that subversion?

This is a public safety issue now. Either start taking mental health seriously as a nation, or start taking steps to protect citizens from the mentally impaired.
No problem with rounding up LWNJ's and putting them on penal colonies far offshore. Certainly are the most prone to mental issues and acting violently.

There's a problem with tossing defense into this. People see where some of those dollars are going.
Too many of us have seen and read about the tens of thousands it takes for someone to go to rehab and it doesn't work.
We know of a special needs adoptee who from the age of three has seen a shrink each week until he was early twenties. He grew up to be an occasionally violent , arrogant bully proud that he didn't have to do homework. At several hundred dollars a week, paid by the state.
It's hard to call for more when there are not that many instances where that end of the medical profession is hard pressed to show where they've cured a problem.
The problems are many and becoming more complex.
Car mechanics would be drawn and quartered if they had so few successes.

The trans epidemic is the result of a successful psychological and chemical warfare campaign.
Enemies of America gotta be thrilled at how all this is working out.
Doctors are thrilled too. A real profit center for them.

So you want to stigmatize getting treatment for mental health issues?
You want to make mental health treatment even more unaffordable?
You want to make access to mental health treatment for patients that ACTUALLY need help harder to get?
Just wait until the Medicaid cuts from the BBB come into full effect. My most intensive clients are typically on Medicaid (and I see just a small fraction of the intensity of clients that are seen in community mental health).
The biggest gap in mental health care at this point is longer term facilities for the most intensive care. Unless you can afford thousands out of pocket, they don't exist post-Reagan. You have your typical outpatient care (once a week to two times a week at most), a step up to Intensive Outpatient/Partial Hospitalization (IOP/PHP), and then Inpatient but it's almost always short term. So you just have to keep sending intensive patients to short-term over and over again.
