Depends on where on 431. I'd be surprised if some of it isn't closed right now. Water was flowing pretty rapidly over 431 around st amant hs hours ago. I evacuated my parents off of Weber city around the corner at 6 pm

Can one travel from NOLA to North Baton Rouge easily tomorrow?
Posted on 8/15/16 at 11:29 pm to lsugrad35
It's weird. George Rouyea runs from Cannon Road to Germany Road. Germany is flooded with water coming from the North and Cannon is flooded with water coming from the South, but Black Bayou Road and 621 at George Rouyea are clear.
I left because water was starting to creep into the backyards of the homes across the street from me- coming from the east. (431 is a little over 1 mile due east)

I'm in Azalea Lakes and the houses along Jefferson and the lake lots got water inside. A lot of the other houses were dry though.
Pretty much all of Lake Indigo Dr is fine. Same for Lakefield, Lake Tulip, and Camellia, except maybe right at the ends of those streets where they hit Lake Terrace. A good portion of Lake Mrytle looked in dry shape from Hoo Shoo Too. Definitely a lot of water along Lake Iris and Lake Terrace.

Correct I'm on 621 on the other side of airline. I feel safe from that direction but based on what I've read here I'm a little concerned coming from the 73 direction.

They said they drove up it a couple hours ago by St Marks and it was fine so now they are worried.

I got as far as Highland and Aster today, didn't try to go further because that's where my family was. I took i10 to Gonzales then 30 to Bayou Paul, then BP to bluebonnet and took a left on Burbank.

Blind River, Diversion Canal & New River can expect flooding -- hence St. James, St. John the Baptist in warnings

I used to live down black bayou close to 431. I bet my old house is under. I've been trying to get my family to leave cannon close to roddy but they don't seem to be concerned there.

Hearing that Grandpoint and Longview subdivisions in St. James are beginning to take on water.
I heard on Nola news this morning the warning that St. James may get some flooding due to the amount of water in such a short period moving that way.

I'll actually vouch for gulfcoastwx being a pretty incredible place to follow at the very least, severe storms and hurricane events. They've got a few mets that frequent it.
Studying meteorology and studying hydrology are two different animals, as this thread and the media coverage has proven. My point is that these weather buffs and even actual mets are far from experts on flooding issues.
If they expect 3-4 more feet in Sorrento, from where will it come? French Settlement will crest around 9.2 feet and is currently at 9.13 feet. New River Canal is @ 6.53 ft and is south of French Settlement and at a lower elevation. Where are you going to get 3-4 feet of water?
The Black Bayou gages are slowing down significantly too.

11:30 am 431 clear from 621 to Airline flooding only east of 431
1:30pm: 431 clear from 621 to Airline flooding beginning west of 431
3:30pm: 431 clear til R Daigle Rd where water started going east to west, but Passable.
6:30pm 431 clear from 621 to R Daigle Rd, where water was POURING over the road. Barely passable there, atDuckroost and Weber City. Two bridges almost topped.
Yet Grimestells us Amite cresting at noon, then 3... Freakin water is Still rising.

Anyone know if the 44/931 area is under the gun? I'm here now and been watching the ditches. They're raising slowly (1/2" hour) but I'm getting pretty nervous after hearing about St Mark.

Sis in law lives on she lee. Water came up quick on them around 4ish I guess. Saw pics from late afternoon & if water wasn't in every house yet, it wasn't far from. Terrible

I don't know, I'm not vouching for any one post or anything (I honestly haven't paid as much attention to flooding that is currently going on anywhere but BR TBH), just saying I've had good experiences with the place.
