It's crazy how many people spend an equal or greater amount on a car versus housing. People living in ghettos, trailer parks and crappy apartments but washing that fancy new car/truck every weekend.

I can't relate to that at all. I mean if you're already fixed for nice things and have plenty left over for a better ride, go for it - it's your money. But you would think people would want to improve their living conditions before taking on a four figure car note.

These people are going to be so screwed when they age out of the workforce. You know they have no savings or assets.

LOL.
It was just a normal Camry 5 years ago. I think like $25k. Had a trade in and some down payment and like a 1.9% interest rate.

Perhaps consider the down payment or trade in value.

You’re assuming he financed the whole thing. A large down payment you can get your payments wherever you want.

I’m looking at what it takes to get your monthly payments lower with interest rates where they are now. The car market is baffling considering you’re getting screwed in price AND interest.

If there were an alternative that still put me in a reliable car, I’d have taken it.

My choices were to overpay for a good car which should hold up or nickel and dime things by getting an unreliable car that was almost as expensive.

My F150 note was $425 or something like that before I paid it off.

I bought it in 2017 for 31k. The same truck is about 20k more now.

If he’s smart, he got a nice trade in and put 10k+ down on a 40-45k vehicle 4-5 years ago when interest was super low? How is that hard to imagine?

My job gives 700/month for a vehicle but it’s taxed. Still tough for me right now looking for a truck. I have to have a full size bed for deliveries and pickups to fit 4’x4’ pallets in it

You financing a golf cart?

Even 10yrs ago you could get into a nice vehicle with a down payment for $300-400.

$600 is the new $300. Just went thru the process and there is some sticker shock as someone who hasn’t purchased in awhile

This will be the true reckoning. The amount of welfare and entitlement spend that will be required to take care of these people will be fiscally impossible.

If it’s taxed as income, you should be able to claim the expenses or mileage on your taxes.
