I see all those baws with their lifted trucks and then look at my current car which would have guaranteed stalled. What is the OTs opinion on lifted trucks? Possible ram 1500 or a used raptor

Be sure and get truck nutz and put a Yeti sticker on the back window.

Taller truck just means you will stall out in deeper water.
If you don't have the intelligence not to drive in water then you will just keep driving into deeper water with a lifted truck.

I used to own a 4.7 ram and always missed that truck. I won't be off reading per se, this would be a cool dd with utility

I wouldn't buy a vehicle based on its ability to drive in flood conditions.

or you take the chance on the same amount of water and keep your truck that much safer.
eta: its hard enough to see the street in 6 inches of water much less 1'-2'.

I was able to get out of my neighborhood and make a beer run for me and several neighbors during the '16 flood

Regular range rover or RR sport can drive through water over the hood. Also has sonar for under water objects. No lift needed

It ain't the truck baw, it's the nutz.

Lifts are cool for males 5'6 and under trying to compensate

When I lived in Houston, across Rt 6 from the base of Barker reservoir, I never had a particularly dependable car (new cars just weren't that good.) This has left me wondering how I survived with such an attitude because I couldn't have depended on them being drivable, had I had to evacuate.

Since this is considered a once in a thousand year event I think you may be overacting a bit. Will having a truck help in the chance that it floods again (and you probably will see another flood) yes, but you're not going to see something of this magnitude in your life time.

Range rovers are pretty expensive. I am not ot rich. I can get about 20k for my car so I can afford a decent ram or a used raptor without breaking bank
