In 1953 a large storm hit the Netherlands and killed almost 2000 people. Delta Works was the response. Delta Works was and still is an incredible program where the Dutch people said "frick the sea," rolled up their sleeves, and got to work. They did what needed to be done with little BS.
After Katrina, the Dutch were invited to New Orleans to participate on the Dutch Dialogues I and II, and then eventually the GNO Urban Water Plan. They came over here and shared everything they knew because they had been through the same thing and didn't want to see it happen again. Every person in South LA should buy the next Dutch they see a beer.
